I have 10 daikin split air conditioners of various sizes and age which are supported by this device
Coolautomation seems to be the leader in the type of integration
Hopefully shouldn’t have to deal with the Modbus aspect.
The CooLinkHub talks to a number of cool plugs the plugs can be either wired or wireless on a mesh type network.
The coolplug is wired direct into the AC unit to control all aspects of it.
Wireless coms back to the CooLinkHub then Ethernet connection to the automation hub of choice.
It currently has native integration for
Crestron, Control4, Lutron, Savant, Legrande, Vantage, Signify, RTI, and other leading automation brands
It's not my driver to share as I didn't get the writers permission to port it and post. But if you head over to the ST boards, there's a Daikin DTH that ports over real easy for personal use.

There is one line that says “contribution by RBoy Apps,” which I’m kinda curious about, though. AFAIK, all of RBoy’s Smartthings apps prohibit changing/sharing/redistributing his code.
When I first started using the DTH on ST, the rboy thermostat apps were making it do weird things. I reached out to him and he took a look at the code and made an addition to make it work better with third party apps.
