Controlling house alarm via garage clicker

Ok, curious if anyone has any thoughts on this:

My alarm.com system is integrated into HE. I can arm stay/away/disarm via a switch (press/double press/hold) to do the various functions.

My truck review mirror has the 3 garage buttons. I have one that is free and not used.

I could get a clicker receiver and pair it with that unused button to do smart home actions if I connected the output of that receiver to a smart relay.

Would I be able to do a similar single press/double press/long hold with the button in my truck to yield similar arm stay/away/disarm actions?

I suspect that only the press action would register.

I’ve never heard of a signal receiver for those other than actual garage door openers…

These work. This is how I got my super old gate to work with my truck button.

They have an output that is a normal open relay that closes.

I think the simplest and least expensive solution is a Zooz Zen34 Remote. I have one in each car, mounted in a inconspicuous but accessible location. Gives you 10 buttons, plus two press & hold buttons, two release buttons, etc. Used as a garage door opener/closer (with a Zooz relay), turn off the house if anything is left on (runs that routine), arm/disarm, welcome home (runs routine to turn on certain lights, disable motion sensors, open garage door, etc).

If your vehicle's universal remote system can bind to a 433MHz system then using a Combo RF ZigBee Relay Board would bring that rearview button into Hubitat.

Whether it could be used for anything more than a simple on off signal would be down to trial and error.

That is awesome. For $16 for a single channel one….could be worth a shot to experiment with!!

How about controlling the garage door from the alarm remote? If at least one phone is present and garage door is closed when alarm sends hubitat a message stating the alarm was set to standby by the car remote, Then open garage door.

I thought of that but there are many scenarios where I wouldn’t want the door to auto open…..maybe 50% of the time my truck gets parked outside. Yeah I could just manually close it, but that would get annoying.

So far I’m liking the RF zigbee board mentioned. No clue if it would be able to do away/stay/disraem, but for the $16 I’m going to buy one to play with.
