Control Amazon Alexa Connected Devices?

I know there is the Amazon alexa App/Skill that can be installed.

i am wondering if i do this will it allow devices connected to alexa, to be brought into Hubitat?

For example i have a sensor (Amazon.com: Made for Amazon Motion Sensor for Echo Flex : Amazon Devices & Accessories) connected to alexa because i couldnt figure out how to connect it to hubitat, is it going to be shown in hubitat if i connect alexa?

No. It isn't. However you can use it in Alexa Routines to control Hubitat-paired devices exposed to Alexa via the Alexa Skill.

It won't bring the sensor into Alexa, but what a lot of people do is this:

  1. Create a virtual switch in Hubitat
  2. Expose that virtual switch to Alexa
  3. In the Alexa app, make routines to toggle that virtual switch depending on what the sensor does.
  4. Then back in Hubitat, you can make other logic depend on that virtual switch toggling.

This is how I integrated motion sensing from my Ring cameras, which were available to Alexa but not Hubitat.

Just for completeness, note you can also connect going the other direction. I have the Flex night light with a contact sensor in Hubitat exposed to Alexa. I can then turn the light on to particular colors using Rule Machine. For example, red shows that a water detector triggered while I was away.
