Connect to hub through browser

Good afternoon,

I have looked through this community and try all the other suggestions regarding checking the IP address, allowing the devise on my router, etc. I cannot access my device through my we browser. I can see my device in the Hubs located on my LAN. It will not let me connect to my hub.

I can access my dashboard though the app on my phone, just not through the web browser.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This looks like hub has jumped to a different IP address. The router should have a "connected devices" page of some sort, please check what's showing there.

Likely changed IP address as @gopher.ny You can download advanced port scanner for free to find it locally on your network. You should set a DHCP reservation for it in your router so it's always at the same address and this doesn't happen in the future.

How would I go about reserving the DCHP? or resetting the IP address so that my router recognizes my hub?

In your router in DHCP settings there should be a place to reserve IP's. You will need the MAC address of the hubitat (underneath the hubitat). This way everytime the hubitat boots it will grab only that address. This should be done with an IOT device hubitat communicates with as well (google/alexa, certain wifi devices like Shelly, Lifx etc)

Sorry I never responded back. I just got back around to messing with this. I have added the hub to the reserved IP's but I still cannot gain access to the hub. Is there a way to reset the IP address of the hub?

Yes, press the button on the bottom of the hub with a pen or paperclip for 8 seconds and release. That will reset the network settings (it's the only round hole out of all square holes)

I have tried that a few times and I'm still getting the " can't reach this page" from my original post.

Is it possible to look at the router's connected devices page and find the hub, along with its IP? I can show you how to do it on my router but that won't really help you

Another option is to use Advanced Port Scanner. (It's free) to see whats up.

Are you running any vlan's? What are you using for your router?

Is it the only square hole out of all round holes, or the only round hole out of all square holes?

edit - in either case it's the one that doesn't look like the rest

I am using a Motorola Model MG7550.

I terminated the DHCP lease the hub was on (old 192.168.0.27) rest using the round hole reset button. The new IP is 192.168.0.12 as shown in the list below

and going to 192.168.0.12 in your browser does not work? Can you ping it from a workstation?

I assume only one subnet, no VLANs?

also try http://hubitat.local/

Correct, going to 192.168.0.12 does not work. Neither does http://hubitat.local/

I'm going to assume no for the subnet or VLANs as well. I've never really dug into router settings before so this is a learning experience for my router as well as the hubitat!

Gotcha. If you don't know then the answer is no. Multiple subnets and VLANs are not something that happens without intervention  Can you get to the diagnostics page at 192.168.0.12:8081

I cannot get to the diagnostics page.

I can ping the IP address.

I will go a different direction. What color is the light on the hub? Hopefully green.

  • Green = Fully booted and operational
  • Blue = Powered on but hub software not yet running
  • Red = Shutdown

And this was a working functional hub until about a week ago, or is this a new hub?

Green

This is a functioning hub. I can use my phone app to turn on/off lights from my dashboard. I just can't access the hub to do anything else.
