Confused on Triggers and required expressions

Not sure what the question here is, but I'm guessing it has something to do with the example you gave... If true, we'll need a lot more info & context about that example in order to help.

G'day @ThunderboltsRock ... Sorry for being a bit silent the last few days, but have been celebrating a significant birthday for my Mum.... Plus enjoying hosting celebrations...

Hmmm... I would encourage you to not view the Hubitat platform itself as being the barrier here. When moving between equivalent systems like Windows and Linux, or Android and iPhone, or Google and Alexa (I expect), there are some key concepts that are fundamentally different, requiring what may seem unnecessary focus to make initial progress in starting to use the new platform, but ultimately the transition is likely to be a positive one. I'm probably overthinking the situation, so won't labour the point, but I hope you won't do the same. You are not the first to move away from Vera and choose Hubitat, so don't feel like you are alone or have made a bad choice. Take some time to take in what HE can do and what you can get out of it.

I'd also echo the sentiments of @JB10 's comments about Reactor and the part it plays in the Vera platform. I would put forward there is a certain degree of latitude available to third-party developers compared to those developing the built-in platform, which we also enjoy similar input from third party developers here.

Alright, warm and fuzzy stuff out of the way....

Actually... I've probably written enough.... post back with where you'd like to head next with this rule you are trying to construct. Personally I expect Reactor has given you some additional features to see the current state information and use them in what feels like a more natural way for you and other users of the Resctor tool. Post back with any questions you may have.
