Hi. Just wondering what rhe configure button does in devices? I looked in the help section but configure isnt even listed as an option.
Just trying to understand the options better. Thanks.
Mac
Configure depends on what the driver has been set to do with it. Basically the concept is that it should run whatever is needed to make sure the device is functioning properly with whatever settings the user has set.
For example: In many ZigBee devices it is often used to set what data is sent back from the device to the controller and how often.
Thanks for the reply.
I was hoping there is a way to lower the sensitivity of an iris v2 motion sensor and that perhaps is may have been under configure. But I’ve never really seen any options when selecting configure so really was questioning what the function did.
Appreciate the reply.
Mac
Configure contains commands that the device requires to run properly when the device joins the network, normally it's not a command that a user needs to run.
The only time this command should be run by a user is when changing drivers manually.
The motion sensitivity of the iris v2 is not adjustable.
Thanks. Appreciate the reply.
Anyone if there is a motion sensor that has a sensitivity setting?
Cheers.
Most Z-Wave sensors have a configuration parameter to adjust sensitivity. Examples include the Zooz 4-in-1 and ZSE18, the HomeSeer HS-MS100+, the Dome DMMS1, the Aeon Multi 6 (and probably the similar Trisensor), and many others. I'm not sure I've ever see a Z-Wave one that doesn't, but those are just a few I have where I know it's possible. (By the way, changing this--usually a device driver preference--hitting Save, and then hitting Configure, possibly necessarily when the device is awake to receive it, is one time when you'd use this button.)
Unfortunately, Z-Wave sensors tend to be a bit (sometimes a lot) slower than Zigbee motion sensors. If you're using these for motion lighting automations, you'll likely find that frustrating. The Zooz 4-in-1 is supposed to be fast, but for Z-Wave, that's still hardly worth bragging about. If this is a problem for your use case, why do you want to adjust the Iris sensitivity? I've long since discarded it, but I think the manual contains a diagram of the detection range and it's may reach farther "up" when sitting upright with the battery down (probably intended to e used on a shelf and see taller humans from there), so if you have it mounted high on a wall, keeping the battery down might be one way to effectively lower the sensitivity. Alternatively, you could consider obscuring part of the lens. Just some other ideas!

So does that mean if i change from Driver X to Basic Z Wave Tool, I should/could run Configure.
Then if i go from Basic Z Wave Tool back to Driver X, I should/could run Configure again?
basic zwave tool doesnt have a configure command.
