Cloud Backups are not available with new subscription

Hi, I updated to the latest version today and signed up for the cloud back up trial so as to transition my z-wave radio (if that's what I'm doing). Multiple cloud backups have been reported succesfully on the page and in the log. However none of them show up as available under cloud back ups. On two occasions a backup was briefly listed but after closing the browser and returning they had also disapeared. I've tried the cloud back and entitlements reloads multiple times. Am I missing something? I've tried in Firefox and reluctantly using Edge. Any help appreciated!

I'm also curious regarding what exactly a local back up doesn't do that a cloud backup provides? To be helpful the comparison would need to describe scenarios and differing consequences.

Many thanks!

Cloud backups include both radio databases. Local backups do not include either.

So restoring a cloud backup to a virgin hub can have you up and running within minutes. With a local backup you’d have to still pair all z-devices.

Thanks @aaiyar,

SO what's in the radio database? I'm guessing it's all the identifiers and info from including/pairing your devices? So if the radio database gets corrupted, your local back up, which is just the rules / apps (that are used in conjunction with the radio database), is completely and utterly useless and you basically would have to start from scratch? The local database just allows you to muck about with new rules and apps and then revert?

Do I understand correctly? I'm afraid a lot of the support info assumes too much WRT to my knowledge base.

Thanks

That is correct, for all practical purposes.

Thank you Jason - much appreciate the confirmation!

Depends on the kinds of devices you have. If they are all LAN connected, or brought in via Matter, a local backup will do just fine.

Only about 40 of my ~250 devices are paired directly to Hubitat. The rest are virtual or brought in via LAN integrations.

Flagging for help with this - Thanks

Did you attempt to make the cloud backup before updating to 2.4.1.151, or only after?

Not that it matters now, but that info may be helpful to staff.

As long as your update went OK, there's no need to actually use the cloud backup for anything -- it's just insurance in case something goes really sideways with the update.

That said, if you're going to continue on as a (paid) Protect subscriber, it's obviously important to get your cloud backups working well since that's really what you're paying for.

The official way of obtaining support for Subscription issues is to fill out the following form

@hydro311 - thanks for the clarification suggestion:

I attempted to make cloud backups after the 2.4.1.151 update. They were made at the suggestion of @bcopeland as a precaution before switching to Z-wave JS. As I cannot see any of those cloud back ups I have not attempted to switch to Z-wave JS.

Thanks @ogiewon. I didn't think of it in terms of being a subscription issue as the subscription shows as being active and the option to create cloud back ups is available. It just doesn't work.

I will follow up using the link though.

Oh, right on - nuts, I intended to ask if you did the cloud backup before or after JS, so that was my bad -- I didn't intend to muddy the waters any further.

I hope the staff is able to resolve this cloud backup thing though -- it's been affecting some other users lately too.

Can you PM me the hub id? I'll check the engineering logs on the hub for clues.

Please grab 2.4.1.152, just released. It has a fix for this issue. You'll need to create a backup again, but it should work fine going forward.
