I have a ton of HUE Color Bulbs & RBG Zigbee Bulbs outside that I want to create a screen where the bulbs randomly switch between red and green one and over. For argument say even 60 seconds, and I need them to be able to be started in RM. I have attached a screenshot of the rule as it stand, where is simply picks a color and stays that color..
I created a rule that would do this for just 3 bulbs. It was difficult to make changes even for that small number of bulbs, let alone the large number you have.
I switched everything over to the Holiday Lights App. Making changes, and adding "new holidays" is very simple.
I Installed it however it wants to know when the run the holiday lighting and I currently control that from within RM - Can you trigger it from RM instead?
I also preferred to start the scene from RM. I used the option to "Display Holiday Lights During The Following Modes Regardless of Time ".
I then created a mode called Holiday Lights, which I can then activate from RM, or just let mode manager control the active times. This method also turns off the colored lights when I leave the house, based on presence sensing, and the mode changes to away.
Iād use the built in app Color Animation to set up the lights. You can then create a connector switch to be controlled in Rule Machine. Itās much simpler than using Rule Machine by itself.
you could use my garden hue app. just choose red and green, set it to 1 minute, choose all the lights. Then when either sundown(+/- x hrs) happens or any one of the lights turn on ( can do this with rule machine) they all will and it will start operating.
The apps we're talking about are community apps, available through the Hubitat Package Manager (also a community app) that is a great tool you should have on your hub, provides you access to hundreds of community integrations/apps/drivers that other community members have developed to extend and enhance the capabilities of your Hubitat hub.

Sure. The inbuilt Color Animation app allows you to create an Activator Device. This device is basically virtual on/off switch that can be controlled via rules. Turn on the Activator Device to start the color animation. Turn off the switch to stop your animation.
Itās a very similar concept to Room Lighting and its Activator Device. There are some definite differences with RL having the ability to do more, but the Color Animation will absolutely do what you want.
