Changing out kitchen cabinet festoon lights

So...I've got these LV festoon-bulb LED lights in my kitchen, and they're not great. I want to replace all of them with zigbee-controlled LED strips.

So I bought some strips & a LV controller and ... I proceeded to cook the controller. Zzzap. (Yes, I tested them first to make sure they worked.)

The voltage is right, so I suspect the current. Do I need to replace the LV transformer? At this point, I'm just inclined to have an electrician come over and do everything right, but I wanted some input first on this.

If you apply the correct voltage and your device is not defective current will be correct. Sounds like you hooked something up incorrectly.

Thanks. It sounds like my step is to get a meter to test it, then. Good thing the controller wasn't too expensive.

Yup. Applying 12v to a 5v will do that.

Been there, done that.

=p
