CentraLite 3-Series Micro Motion Sensor (Motion Function)

Is anyone using this sensor for both the motion and the temperature in automation? My rule for motion works, sort of.

It turns on a light. I'm having issues with the time using Sunset to Sunrise. Not seeing consistency on when the rule starts working within these times.

Also, when you use an offset, how exactly does that affect the time?

If the motion sensor is reporting the events you expect when you expect them (e.g., motion active and motion inactive; check the "Events" tab on the device detail page, or by default you'll also see "info" logs for the device in Logs with similar information),then the device itself is likely fine. Certainly check that, but more likely, your issue may be with an app. I don't see any information about that, so I'd consider sharing what app you're using (e..g, Basic Rule, Motion Lighting, Room Lighting, Simple Automation Rules, etc.) and how it's configured (a screenshot is great, or at least a description of the options you've used).

With sun times in particular, you may wish to make sure your location and time zone are set correctly in Settings > Hub Details and that your hub time is also correct after this. Setting an off offset will perform or enable/restrict the automation by the specified number of minutes before (if a negative number) or after sunrise or sunset, generally speaking, though it depends on the specific option and app you're talking about.

Here is the rule I am using (Basic Rule):

Here is the Device Screen:

This looks like a different automation than the one you described in this post, turning on a light. Maybe this was meant for your other thread? In that case, the Basic Rule looks OK to me, so I'd suggest looking at events (or logs, but events filtered by "temperature" may be easier--assuming they go back far enough) and consider turning on logging for the rule, both of which may provide additional clues.

There were two posts, I updated them both. I wanted to keep them separate because, while it's the same sensor, there are two different issues related to two rules, using two different parts/functions of the sensor.

I solved this issue by watching the "Modes" video on the Hubitat YouTube channel. I then used the Mode Manager to setup my 4 default modes. By setting this rule to run during the evening / night modes, it accomplishes what I wanted.
