It's funny how in almost all other aspect of life the older generations talk about life being better "in their day", but somehow that doesn't apply in IT....
Simpler yes, better no.
That said, I still enjoy repairing and playing with my 16 odd computers from the 80’s and 90’s (Commodore, Apple, Atari and Tandy).
I think it is all relative... to achieve what we can today with the ease that we do would seem (and essentially was) unachievable "in the olden days", plus the interfaces that are ubiquitous to so many systems nowadays were not achievable back then....
Nor was the exposure of so much personal data... Hmmm....
He must be in marketing....
We already have a term for that in the US.
It’s called “inadequate vacation time.”
