Can't pair First Alert ZCOMBO with C-7

I'm currently migrating from VeraPlus to Hubitat C-7. Can't say it's been easy but I finally got all my devices paired and running except 2 ZCOMBO smoke/co detectors. I've tried every suggestion I could find in the forum with no luck. Excluding, factory reset, removing the batteries, holding the test button while closing the batt door, placing the detector 2 inches from the hub, etc. The closest I got to getting it paired was a message during discovery indicating "device found, initializing", but it times out without adding the device (although it did create a ghost device which I was able to remove). I retried using the Vera controller and it pairs and unpairs within seconds. I've done the pairing procedure so many times that I got a blister on my finger from pushing the test button and I've finally given up. Any ideas why it pairs so easily using the Vera but refuses to pair with the C-7?

No, but you excluded it from Vera first, right? Sorry for stupid question.

Yes, it wouldn't exclude using the c-7. Using the Vera it excludes within seconds.

Have you successfully added any other Z-Wave devices to your C-7?

If not, have you verified that the region is set to "US" (or whatever is appropriate for you, but with the ZCOMBO device this is my suspicion...) in Settings > Z-Wave Details?

Finally, any concerning messages in "Logs"? In particular, if you see something about Z-Wave busy, a full shutdown of the Z-Wave radio may help. A regular hub reboot doesn't do this, but these instructions (at the very end of this doc) will:

Yes, I have successfully added around 25 Z-Wave devices. I'll try pairing again and check the logs. I have done a full shutdown.

I had the same problem with my C8-pro. I shutdown my hub for a minute and powered back on, then I went to the z-wave details page and I had a ghost. I hit refresh on the ghost at the same pressing the test button on the smoke sensor. It finally paired as a generic z-wave switch, so I had to the device page and select the correct driver. There is something wrong with the hub’s pairing process with these devices. I had to do this with two different sensors.

I'll have to try this when I get a ghost. After hitting the refresh button was the battery door closed when you hit the test button or did you pull it out and close it while holding the test button?

Battery door was closed. I hit the refresh a few times.
