I have 2 Ubiquiti UDM routers, one local, one remote. I have set up a site to site VPN using Ubiquiti's Site Magic facility (I think it uses Wireguard) and can access my remote cameras and Synology server without problems. I can ping the remote Hubitat hub, but cannot get to it's web page - it just time's out.
I read something somewhere about the hub not allowing access from non-local IP addresses. Is this the problem? What can I do about it?
Could try adding the remote subnet
http://<yourHubIp>/hub/allowSubnets?123.123.123.0,124.124.124.0
I connect all the time through a point to point VPN without any issues. If you can ping the unit but not able to open the web page - take a look at if any filtering is occurring in the firewall - that would cause the conditions you mention - just trying to help.
I entered
http://"myremoteHubIp"/hub/allowSubnets?"mylocalIp subnet in the form xxx.xxx.xxx.0" and received "allowed subnets list updated"
But when I enter "myremoteHubIp" (without quotes) it just times out.
Could you explain the underlying mechanism which might be causing this, or suggest anything else I can try?
Still can't access my Hubitat via site-to-site vpn. Anyone got any more suggestions or ideas as to why it doesn't work?
I don't think it is a firewall issue as I can access the web pages of other devices on the remote lan. And jumbo frames are not enabled.
Just in case anyone else has this problem, here is my work around.
I have a Synology DSM which I can access remotely via the site to site vpn. So I installed a Docker version of Firefox on the DSM and used that to access my remote Hubitat.
