I've got a motion sensor going into my utility room which controls the switch in the utility room. It's set to turn the light on for 5 minutes after motion stops then turn off. Most times 5 minutes is long enough, but occasionally I'm in there longer. Is there a way to override the motion rule if I turn the switch on manually? I know I could put another motion sensor, but I'd rather not.
I would put a contact sensor on the door. Make a rule in RM4 that turns off the light when the door is closed and on when it's open. On small rooms that you're not likely to close the door when in use are best handled this way (I think). This way you don't have to worry about the light giving you away if you ever need to hide from the kids in there.
If you are using the Motion Lighting app, yes, there is an option to not turn off if turned on manually. But, the light should stay on as long as there is motion within the 5 minute period.
