A "large, colour-based" organisation with a cloud-based TTS service messed up my registration, which would seem "elementary" to many, but I thought I would see if I can make use of the platform I currently rely on to record lengthy text descriptions of on-screen recordings for my apps, i.e. I don't want to inflict my dry, dulcet tones on the potential users of my exciting creations. Is this possible?
Perhaps to simplify my cryptic opening..... Can I either record TTS from HE, or does anyone else have any suggestions for services where I can do this?
I am using https://freetts.com/ for all my TTS needs.
That's certainly firming as a favourite....
There is also a program called Zabaware Reader that reads back whatever you type or highlight on the screen, While the app is free, the included voices are not so great. They also sell several high quality voices. I purchased Seravoice Katherine who sounds like Alexa, but others are available in several dialects,
I used the software to create wav files for use in my Aeotec and Ecolink Chimes. That allows me to have alerts without relying on the cloud.
With a free account with Amazon Polly, you can select different voices and download mp3s for use elsewhere

If you use macOS, you can also create audio files using the platform's built-in TTS feature and save them to a file using the command line. This is old but still works--it's the -o
option for the say
tool that does the magic:
(then probably use Audacity or some other means to convert the AIFF unless you can use that directly)
