I set up a new C8 hubitat in my daughters new home about 6 months ago. I connected to it the router just fine and connected with my lap top (via wifi). Also connected one z-wave device and it looked fine. Now I am back 6 months later and getting ready to add more z-wave devices to get her house automated. When I set up the hubitat I used a permanent IP address. And when I look at the router, I see the hubitat with the same IP address (as expected). I try to connect to it with my lap top (on the same network) but it does not respond (it times out). I used "find my hub" and that also sees the hub fine. I click connect and it tries to connect to the same IP address but again it times out. I cycled the power off/on the hubitat and that didn't work. The light is green. Any suggestions??? Frustrated ...
Can you access the Diagnostic Tool? That would give you some troubleshooting options, at least.
Can not access the diagnostic tool. I also tried a different laptop and have the same problem.
I'd suggest a network reset as the next step. You could also see if Wi-Fi gives you better luck than Ethernet, although normally it's the reverse (and maybe you can change back if you're able to get back in this way and figure out the problem).
The green LED is promising, but even without that, the Diagnostic Tool could be running, so it's quite possibly a network problem (whether on the hub, your own network, or the devices you're using to connect) that is at play, but it's hard to say. Do you have any unusual configuration, like multiple vLANs or guest networks that could be interfering with regular operation?
Only one network. I have a router (unifi dream machine) and two unifi wifi hotspots (a big house). I switched to other hot spot and that did not help. I moved the hubitat to a different port, and the router shows it on the different port just fine. So the router sees it. I can also do this ...
and select connect ... but I time out.
Finally I turned off and back on the router. And that worked!!
Thanks for the router reset idea!! Never had to do that before. Hope it's not something that happens often.
That's actually not what I suggested, but I'm glad it worked!
While you did not specifically say to reset the router, you did suggest (remind me) that other network components may be the problem. Ergo ... reboot network. Thanks!!!
