Can I set a check-in frequency for sonoff snzb-04 zigbee contact sensors?

Hi. I bought a few SNZB-04 contact sensors after researching here in the forum, but I end up getting frustrated with it... I managed to pair it and have it working with the driver created by markus here .

However, I see that the devices never send any check-in or regular reporting. The consequence of this seems to be that, in occasions when the door/window the device is monitoring is not used for a few days (for example we were away from home for 3 days) then the sensors lose contact with Hubitat and I have to pair them again. This happened to both of my devices.

Is there any work around on that?

I have a couple of these and I'm not having any issues using Markus's driver.
That being said, there is a system driver for this device. Have you tried that one? It may work better, I don't know.

EDIT: As an aside, which version of the driver are you using? Mine is * driver : v1.0.1.1123

I have a WC Piston that checks the presence of these devices every 3 hours.
I see these go 'not present' and back 'present' again quite regularly.
They do always come back though.

Hi, Sorry for the late reply.
After creating this thread I paired up again the device and I am monitoring to see if it will fall off again. So far it has been good! I noticed in the device's event list a number of "not present counter" while the window hasn't been open/closed but once I open/close the window it still managed to report back.
That's nice but I still feel I can't trust the device to report back if the window remain shut for a week or so. time will tell... (FYI, in case it matters, the device communicates to the hub by using a zigbee smart socket as relay).

Also, since this device doesn't send any check-in message (differently of the Aqara contact sensor, I have one of those and they have been perfect from they one). I think there is no monitoring app or rule machine that I can implement to give me a heads up if the sensor becomes unresponsive.
Going a bit of topic, I've been trying to find reliable cheap devices so I know what to go for when I move to a bigger place but so far I've been somewhat disappointed with Sonoff (I also have some temperature sensors of them and they also have been unreliable at the beginning and now I am monitoring them). Please let me know if you guys have suggestions of other cheap zigbee/z-wave brands that work well with Hubitat.

@bobbles I have Marcus driver version number Version: v1.0.1.1123b
I guess mine is Beta and yours isn't? Maybe I could try to update it again, in case I have more problems....

Have you tried this driver ?

No! Tks for pointing out. Do you think it is okay if I just install this driver and switch the current device to use it? Or should I remove + unpair the device and do everything from scratch to use this Tuya driver?

Install the driver, manually assign it to your device, then obligatory pair the sensor again (without removing the device).

Most of the Sonoff battery-powered sensors will accept the reporting configuration commands only for a limited time period after the pairing.
