The antennae that ship with the C8P are right angle only. I'd like to wall mount this but the antennae would be sticking out into the room. Has anyone looked into replacing these? I'm not sure what wavelengths they are tuned for for zigbee/zwave, or if I really need to take that into account when looking for replacements.
Unless there's a problem w/doing it, you can rotate the hub so you can orient one antenna pointing upwards, and one downwards...that's perfectly acceptable.
it just takes up more wall space doing that, and things are tight. but it's possible i may be able to move some stuff around and make that work.
How mine is set up. I used to have the 2nd antenna pointing upwards, but added a third-party antenna for Z-Wave that has worked well for me. Stuck w/the stock antenna for Zigbee.
You should have known this was coming....
Link to the zwave antenna!?
$5 and I will share.
Just a sec have to go check my Amazon past orders.
Okay two options here. First below was used by another long-term member of the forum, and he said it worked very well for him. This one is Z-Wave only:

Below is the one is the one I use. It supports both Z-Wave and Zigbee, and comes in a two-pack:
It is much bigger and much uglier than the other one, so if aesthetics are an issue, and you only want a new antenna for Z-Wave, I'd go with the first one. The one I use has a cable connect so you have more flexibility about where/how the antenna is mounted.

Unbelievably, my wife has been OK w/these two mounted on the end of a bookcase in her office for many months. Truly have no idea why this is OK, but not going to bring it up w/her, ever. I initially had both antennas mounted, but ended up only using one of the them for Z-Wave, and kept the stock antenna for Zigbee. That combination worked best for me.
Both Z-Wave and Zigbee replaced:
Just Z-Wave replaced:
This is the one I ordered. I've been wary of Amazon no-name products as some have been pretty bad.

Are these SMA or RP-SMA connectors? I could probably just get another elbow and stick it in between the antenna and the C8P. or go with a pair of what rsjaffe just shared.
Both of the antennas I posted are RP-SMA.
This
The one I posted is legit - took almost every Z-Wave device to direct connect, and solved long-standing problems with Z-Wave blind motors mounted inside metal blinds enclosures.
So this would be the correct extension cable?
Extension Cable (2-Pack) RP-SMA Male to RP-SMA Female Bulkhead Mount RG316 Cale 15cm 6 inch
Connectors look right, female end to hub, male end to stock antennas.
Says supports Wi-Fi.
I agree. The antenna isn't encased in plastic, so they can't hide anything and it all looks good.
I found some plastic encased antennas on Amazon where a reviewer took it apart and found out the antenna was much smaller and poorly soldered.
People are clever, aren't they? Agree you have to be careful, there is a lot of copy-crap out there.
Additional info: this is for Z-wave only, N. American frequency. 1/2 wave, 2.7 dBi gain, 99% efficiency. For Z-wave, C8 pro standard antenna has 42-43% efficiency, 0.84 dBi gain.
Efficiency is as important as gain, probably more so if you need a non-directional antenna, as gain is related to directionality. Gain = efficiency * directivity. So a higher gain/low efficiency antenna will have more directivity, which is unwelcome if you have a multistory building.
