This is a right message and advise. There’s just heartburn because it’s not been communicated that the C-8 has limitations vs the C-7. I bought a C-8 because it was the latest and greatest, backwards compatibility issues weren’t raised in any review I read or on the product website. If I had known this I would have gladly gone with a C-7 for cheaper. But I’m not going to buy a C-7 now as that doesn’t make much sense practically. Based on the release of the C-8 Pro so soon after the C-8 release, it’s hard not to interpret as an issue with the C-8 hardware that can’t be fixed with SW.
The C-8 pro has the same radios as the C-8, just a faster processor and more memory. I migrated over 100 Zigbee devices to my C-8 from my C-5 and things have worked better than ever. Looking at the Zigbee Map App, it seems like it could be due to the Zigbee 3.0 repeaters I already had in place.
