Should I?
Have you?
I done the update about 2 weeks ago or so. There has been no change in my functioning zigbee mesh. I can tell no difference in anything that was already in place. It does seem like though the couple of devices I paired after the firmware update, seemed to pair almost immediately after I put them in pairing mode compared to the 10 or 15 seconds it used to take. That could be me just looking for something to say it made better but I can definitely say it has no adverse impact to my system.
Thanks for the update.
My ZigBee migration to the C8 Pro from my C5 was less than smooth, but it's more or less stable atm.
Probably a good sign that there is little mention of the C8 Pro ZigBee radio firmware update on the forum, but for now my system is running pretty good so... I'll just wait a bit longer.
I had mined update for ages (since beta), no issue at all, I don't even think people had issues during the beta.
That's good to know it's been tested for some time with no issues.
Next time I'm feeling bored, I'll give it a whirl.
Seems to have worked for me.
I'll report back if my one Zigbee device, a Sinope propane tank monitor, stops working.
Since you had such a rough experience I don't blame you for waiting for a while. I agree though since there has been basically no discussion about it on here, I don't believe it is causing anyone any issues. I don't suspect there is anything that is a show stopper if you do wait so I would be inclined to do the same.
I updated during the beta when it was first released - I didn't notice any changes (good or bad). And I don't recall any seeing any good/bad posts about it at all during the beta or since, so I think that's a good sign.
Just don't unplug the hub, lol.
You think it'll never happen to you while flashing firmware...
I mean it's like a few seconds. Right?
But many years ago the power dropped just as I was flashing the BIOS on a motherboard (P2B?), totally screwed it so it wouldn't even boot. Luckily it was back in the day when the BIOS chip was on a socket.
Kind of a sketchy recovery process as I recall, boot up another same model motherboard then pop out the good chip and insert the bad one before flashing it again.
But it did work to restore the corrupted chip.
And then always make sure you're on a UPS when flashing.
