C8-Pro - Zigbee full reset

Hi guys, I’m a proud owner of a Hubitat C8-Pro, having done the migration from C7 a few days after C8 was first launched.
I know that some Tuya devices are not officially supported but I have a garage opener that only works on my old c7 hub and does not pair in C8/C8-Pro. I have 2 friends that did pair that same device on C8 directly and I wonder if I should start my zigbee stack from scratch. I know it will be a lot of work, but I am open to it. How to have a new zigbee pan and extended pan id? I want to rebuild my zigbee stack from scratch since I’m not sure if all this migration path caused me an issue… any luck?

That seems drastic to me.

Have you tried stuff like factory resetting the zigbee device? Pairing in the clear and that other option on the Device page? Removing and re-inserting battery/power on the device? Shutdown and power cycle hub?

When all else fails, perhaps @kkossev would help.

Sorry, I can’t help here - this is not a driver issue.

If you're at the end of your rope, you could always use a FingerBot to press a button.

@andrepinto

Turn off the c7, factory reset the zigbee device. Then pair while standing next to the new c8. That said, make sure your zigbee channels on the c7 and c8 are different.

Have you tried the alternative pairing methods to see if any of those help. Based on your brief description, it could be that your device may try to pair via a repeater, instead of directly to the hub. If you have certain repeaters that your friends don't, that might be the difference. I wouldn't reset the hub, but rather compare the mix of devices with your friends.

I’ve tried everything stated above @bobbyD . The FOMO factor is now affecting me since another user has the exact same device that works on C8. The only difference is that I came from a migration and he didn’t pass through it. Even our zigbee channels are the same… I’ll keep you posted once I do it…

Have you tried to pair it really close to the hub ?
And sometimes you have to do it very far away ?
also make sure your zigbee channel is set to 20-25 and your wifi router is set to channel 1
Its crazy but sometimes this works ..

As @WarlockWeary alluded to, your Wi-Fi settings may be different than others. If you have a crowded 2.4ghz Wi-Fi channel overlapping the Zigbee channel that could make a difference too. As for migration, it's a replica of the old hub. Resetting and starting over may benefit from rebuilding the mesh, but on itself the fact that you migrated wouldn't be the root cause of your problem.

This works for me on my C7 due to low memory issues, not sure about C8 pro.
Shutdown hub from the settings area. Pull power for 1 minute from the hub, restart & let it boot fully, then within 3 minutes of full startup, try to pair the device right next to the hub

Well, I did the full reset today. Long story short: still, some Tuya devices refuse to pair on C8. I will try to send the devices fingerprints here but it is frustrating that an upgrade looks like a downgrade regarding compatibility…

Did you you try anything we said ?
You didn't say ..
Would be good to try these steps. We suggested.
And let people know .. then we could suggest others stuff. Thanks

I tried almost everything: from rebooting hub, to pair the devices multiple times, updated drivers, changed channels.. I just didn’t try to approximate the devices to the hub to avoid wiring hassle but all devices paired again immediately on C7 after the attempts on C8… One thing I noticed is that the devices appear on C8 and they seem to communicate while in pairing mode but after pairing mode is disengaged then I lose all communication . I guess this is something related to some kind of pairing handshake on these tuya devices that don’t follow the zigbee standard details… the reality is that those devices are “crap” in terms of protocol BUT they do work pretty well on C7 considering their prices…
