Anything special about the new C8 Power Adapter Cable? The included cable wasn't long enough so I tried a 9 foot charging cable. It would not work! I had to use a full up data cable to make it work.
The C8 hub comes with a pretty standard USB A-to-C charging cable AFAIK.
But it can only be powered at 5V, so perhaps one of your cables has greater resistance and more of a voltage drop over 9 ft, preventing the hub from powering on?

I know for a fact that the data connections are not required for operation. Perhaps your 2nd cable was simply a better cable. As a rule I use "Cable Matters" brand and have always had a good experience.

There have been reports of a USB C->C cable not working well, presumably because then the device needs to negotiate power with the PD supply. Others said they did not have an issues though. Otherwise any USB A->C cable should work connected to a 1A or higher USB A supply.
