C8 Migration to C8 Pro

Trying to upgrade to C8 Pro from C8, and followed the documentation. I do not have Backup Protect. I created a cloud backup of the old C8 and confirmed in the logs it was created. After registering the new C8 Pro, I went to migrate from a previous hub, but It couldn't find the backup. HELP!

Same registration email as the C-8?

Yes. The same email address.

This seems to be a recurring problem, no backup found, I wonder what the core issue is

Do a warranty claim I guess.

While you're waiting, create the backup of the C8 again and look for it again from the C8-Pro. Quick and easy, and maybe you'll jiggle something loose w/the second try on the backup.

There are no cloud backups listed on the C8 so why would I see them on the C8 Pro. I see other users have reported this problem and I guess Hubitat no long has email support. I'll just return the unit for a refund.

You said below in the OP - that the backup on the C8 was successful. Have things changed, or did you make an error in your post, or ?

Cloud backup is working fine for me and for the majority of users...there are a few corner cases where it may still fail, but that's not very common these days.

You were provided a link where you can get warranty support from HE, they haven't done email support in a long time. They hang out in this forum regularly as well.

Hope your return goes OK.

A “Migration Cloud Backup” on your C8 hub will not be visible on the C8 hub (unless one has a Hub Protect Subscription on that hub.)

The C8’s “Migration Cloud Backup” should be visible on a C8 Pro hub, as the purpose of the ”Migration Cloud Backup” is to provide an easy method for upgrading to a higher level hub (e.g. C7 to C8/C8Pro OR C8 to C8Pro).

Please make sure both hubs are running the same platform firmware version.

FWIW, migration backups are also visible on the same level hub for C-8 hubs (and above). So a C-8 to C-8 migration is possible.

However the hub on which the migration cloud backup is performed cannot be the hub on which the migration cloud backup is restored - as you point out. Their UIDs have to be distinct.

@user5914 - the reason for this should be self-evident. If Hubitat Inc. permitted a migration cloud backup to be restored on the same hub, it would be same as a regular cloud backup; without the subscription required for the latter.

I don't think you understand the problem. When I did a migration backup on my C8, that backup did not appear on either hubs.

Do the migration backup again, and try to access it again from the C8 Pro.

Make sure your logged in with the same account\email address on both hubs.

I'd you still can't migrate, enter the warranty claim at the link provided above.

The have been some reported issues like this in the past few months, I am not sure what the resolution was. Every time other users with multiple hubs test it out (just to see if they can see the backups), it seems to work fine for them. I think staff possibly had to go in and fix something for them. Which is why I suggested to do a warranty claim. They will try to resolve the issue first, they wont just blindly send you a new hub.

FWIW I decided to test this for myself. I have a C7 without hub protect on 2.3.9 still.

Created Backup

Cannot see it at all from C7 (not sure why these show up? Maybe because they have hub protect, in case I needed to migrate to a backup hub due to failure and then transfer subscriptions?

CAN see it from the C8
