C7 to C8 Migration Woes

I just tried migrating from a C7 to a C8 using the recommended migration procedure. Both hubs are running firmware version 2.4.3.123. Before the migration I rebooted both hubs, did a cloud backup on the C7, did a shutdown on the hub and unplugged it. I did a cloud backup restore on the C8 (with zwave, zigbee and file manager options selected) and once it rebooted I received the following message:

Z-Wave migration has failed.
Create a new backup on the source hub and attempt the restore again.

I did a shutdown on the C8 and unplugged it. Plugged the C7 back in and created another cloud backup. As before, I did a shutdown on the C7 and unplugged it.

I plugged the C8 back in and did another restore from cloud backup. This time I received no errors but found the Z-Wave details table was blank. I shutdown the C8 again and unplugged it for several minutes hoping a z-wave radio power cycle might fix the issue. No change.

I attempted the restore from cloud backup again and no change. In both C8 restore from cloud backup instances, the zigbee network appeared to be OK.

Finally, I tried another full process (what can i say, I'm an optimist): cloud backup on the C7, shutdown, pull power-->power on the C8, restore from cloud backup, wait for reboot, no z-wave devices, shut down, pull power for 5 mins, restart, etc. Same results as the previous migration attempt; Z-Wave details table is totally blank.

I'm back on the C7 and everything is working as it was prior to the attempted migration.

Other notes:

While no z-wave migration failed errors were observed after the 2nd and 3rd migration attempts, on the 3rd attempt i accidentally closed the browser tab after looking at the Z-Wave details page. When I opened a new tab, the Z-Wave migration failed error popped up for perhaps 5 seconds and automatically dismissed itself.

From what I can tell, there isn't Z-Wave firmware update available for the C8 (no Firmware Update button on the Z-Wave details page).

Any thoughts?

Try this:
On C7
goto Hub > Settings > z-wave details.
check your list for any ghost devices (device is empty)
If you have any, remove them all reboot as needed.

Once there are no zwave ghosts shutdown the C7 and remove the usb power cable for 15 mins.

Grab a coffee

Power up the C7 and once the UI is fully booted wait 10mins for the zwave/zigbee networks to settle down.

Grab a coffee

goto Hub > Settings > Backup and restore
Create and upload a new cloud backup

Grab a coffee

rinse and repeat your steps for the migration and :crossed_fingers:t3:
If all of that does not get you going, i would send a message to @support_team along with your hub id with a link to this thread.

I had checked for ghosts prior to starting the migration and no ghosts were present. I tried the migration again this morning giving it ample time before all steps--same results. I even tried a full reset on the C8 and no joy.

Alas, out of warranty.

PM sent -- thanks.

If you bought the hub but never used it or registered it until now, I would submit it anyway. Let support decide if they want to honor the warranty based on registration date.

But you might not need to f Bryan can determine something.

Release 2.4.3.131 fixed the migration issue. I did have one problem where the Z-Wave details page showed all nodes having only one neighbor and the topology map was all red. A hub shutdown and power disconnect solved the issue. Otherwise, so far so good. Thanks to all who replied and to @bcopeland and the rest of the hubitat staff for the quick response and fix.
