C7 Hub Keeps Crashing Randomly

Morning, We've got a c7 which keeps crashing, what's odd though is that sometimes the automations still work but and the hub is just inaccessible. Even the diagnostic side isn't reachable. Its becoming more and more often which is now starting to cause problems. I've got a few errors in the logs but nothing major, any ideas what it could be?

I interpret what you've posted to indicate that the hub's network interface has crashed but the hub platform is still running.

This typically happens when the hub is on the same network segment as one or more other devices that are configured to use jumbo ethernet frames (JF). The solution would be to:

  1. Identify those devices, and turn off the use of JF.
  2. Since your hub has been restarted a few times by pulling power, it would be a good idea to do a soft-reset.

If you cannot identify the devices that have been configured to use JF, another solution would be to connect the hubitat to your network via a Fast Ethernet switch. Such (older) switches are limited to 100 mbps, and will drop oversized ethernet frames. So there's no chance of the hub's network interface seeing a JF.

A 5-port fast ethernet switch would be < $10 on Amazon.

ah i think you're correct! we have jumbo frames enabled on our main back bone of the network that all switches connect to. Might have to buy a cheap switch to plug in like you say

Right JF will kill the hub...

any idea why this happens?
