C5 stopped working well

I have an old C5 hub that has worked great for years. Recently I noticed it wasn't reliably shutting off lights at night, on when the rules called for them, etc. At first I thought it might be a range issue but I haven't changed anything.

I updated the firmware, tried shut downs, reboots, etc. Now it works sporadically at best. So it's not completely broken I guess, but it's basically non functional. Is this just a sign of an old hub that's dying? Is there anything else I can try? I'm not opposed to upgrading to a C8 but I'd rather avoid that hassle if possible.

It's running 2.3.9.201. If it matters, I only use z wave devices and a Philips hue bridge.

Do a soft reset followed by a database restore.

If that doesn’t fix the issue, now is a good time to consider an upgrade - there are Black Friday sales in the offing.

Thank you. I tried that and moved to a backup from a few days ago. Same thing. Intermittently controls the closest devices. No response on anything else. I'm not sure if this means something, but in the app my hub now says (cloud). I don't think it used to say that. As such, it no longer lets me connect to the dashboard via the app for some reason.

It just seems so odd. It's not completely broken. Just misbehaving. I would rather it be broken, lol.

Have you added any new devices recently?
Do you have any z-wave ghosts?
Could one of your z-wave devices be playing silly beggars and screwing your z-wave mesh?
Anything in the logs that is unusual for any of your devices or rules?

Just trying to see if anything unusual is showing up.

No ghosts. I have old devices that aren't really in use anymore. But I don't have a very big network. I have like 20 devices that are actually is use on any given day.

The only thing recently added was a bunch of new hue lights on my front porch. But that all worked good for a couple of weeks I think.

As for logs, there's a ton of entries today as I've done a lot of resetting, z wave repair, testing, etc. But these errors started showing up recently.

Looking back, I installed those new lights on 11/3. These errors were existing prior to that.

I'm not sure if you've tried it already but you could do a graceful shutdown of the hub and then power it down. Wait 30 seconds then power it back up.
This will reboot the zwave radio and may clear out any corruption should any exist.
Worth a try.

How have you verified that on a C-5 (because the built-in z-wave stack doesn't display ghost)? Have you used an external secondary controller like PC Controller or Z-Wave Toolbox?

Hmmmm. I didn't realize that. I don't have any external controllers. Just occasionally access the device via web or app. I'm starting to think it may be time to upgrade, lol.

I've tried that a few times. Did the "soft reset" suggested above. Rebooted. I think I've done all the resets there are....

You can't tell if you have ghosts on the c5 without a stick and the silabs software

Overall it sounds like a rogue device. A new hub won't solve that. I would start looking at your app stats and device stats... Check to see if any battery devices are really low.
