C5 Elevated Load - No apparent reason -Possible Ecobee?

Hello - I'm getting an elevated load alert.
C5, 2.3.9.197
Checked stats for devices and apps - in both cases, busy time as a percent of total time is less than 15%. Sorting by various columns, nothing jumps out. For Ecobee Thermostat device, the number of events and states are highlighted in a reddish color, but no idea what that means. On apps stats, the two with highest activity are Ecobee Suite and Advanced Hue Integration - but again, total percent of busy is still low, so unclear why the load is reported as elevated.

This has been an ongoing intermittent issue on my C5 - ie reports of elevated load with nothing obvious as the cause. Zigbee radio shuts down every few months, usually a restart fixes it.

Ecobee if misconfigured seems to be a common cause of hub excess load, or at least it has been in the past. I am not certain of what settings to tell you to fix to solve this.

What would probably help is if you could tell more about your Ecobee version, I think this is community/user code?

Are there errors or warnings in the logs related to this warning or Ecobee integration?

Hi there - thanks for the reply. It's Ecobee Suite Manager version 1.99.00 (up to date I believe).

It has a polling interval setting which is currently at the recommended setting of 1 minute. That's the only setting I see that might change activity.

Will check for errors. I can up the log level on the app to see if that provides additional info.

Out of curiosity - I also have a C7, which I use for all my Zwave devices and a separate zigbee network for Aqara devices. I could move the Ecobee app there if the C7 has a more robust processor though I'd have to redo a bunch of things in an app connected via Maker API. Is the C7 likely to have less issues of this sort? Not sure what the hardware changes are in the various HE hub generations.

C5 to C8 (except the C8 Pro) all use the same processor and RAM. The difference between them is Z-wave or Zigbee radio chipset changes. The C8 Pro has more RAM, and can help with low memory, but I am not sure I would upgrade just to fix Ecobee issues.

Moving a chatty cloud integration onto a separate hub is a good strategy. Myself, and many of us on here have used a second hub for devices and apps that don't play nice with a particular hub hardware or combination of what you have loaded onto a hub. If you don't have much on your C7, this might be a good way to balance the load between the hubs.

You can use Hubmesh and share devices, so it shouldn't mess up too much stuff, although you will likely have to manually change devices in apps becuase I bet Ecobee is a child device and the Swap Apps doesn't work with those child devices.

I am not sure who here is the Ecobee expert, but if you don't mind I am adding that to the title of the thread to hopefully draw some attention to this issue.

Thanks! Yes, I already have the two hubs integrated with hub mesh, but I had most of the additional integrations on my original C5. I probably should move some of them (eg Ecobee) to the C7.

Turn on all the options on the apps and device stats pages, and post a screenshot of the top of the list (whatever fits on one screen using a PC). I want to see all the numbers for those possible offenders you have picked out.

Also go to HUB.IP/hub/advanced/freeOSMemoryHistory in the browser and post a screenshot. Preferably when you are getting the load error.

Sorry to ignore your helpful response - haven't had time to check here. Happened again one time (Zigbee radio shut off) but cleared again. I've moved both Ecobee and Advanced Hue integration to my C7. If zigbee goes down again on the C5, I'll post the info here as suggested. Thanks!
