[C-8 Pro/Android Mobile App] Syncing issues between Hub & Mobile app?

Here are my current setups

  • C-8 Pro Hub w/ platforms ver 2.4.1.164
  • Samsung Galaxy S24 phone w/ Hubitat mobile app ver 2.1.1 (322)

But the problems are not version specific. They have been there in the previous versions as well. I just have the time to summarize them now.

ISSUE #1:
I renamed my rooms and one of my devices about a week ago. While the hub shows the correct new names, the “Devices” page on my samsung phone still show the old names until now. I had shutdown the hub, unplugged the power & internet cables, waited for a few minutes and then re-connected them back. I had also logged off the Hubitat app on my phone and restarted my phone. But the problem persists. So looks like the “Devices” page on the phone is reading the names from an old cache.

Does anybody know where the cache is and how to re-sync it with the new names?

ISSUE #2:
At home (where the Hub is), my EZ dashboard is showing the correct setup on my phone (Dark theme).
Away from home (remote), my EZ dashboard is showing the wrong setup on my phone (Legacy/White theme, which was my Old theme) and sometimes the layout was completely messed up, especially after I added new devices.

How do I make the EZ dashboard theme/layout on my phone sync-ed, whether I’m home or away from home?

ISSUE #3:
This is not really a syncing issue. Every time I upgraded my Hubitat platforms version, the Geofence on my phone became disabled. So I have to remember to enable it every time. Not sure whether other people have the same problem.

How to make Hubitat remember this setting when upgrading its platform version?

Thanks in advance for the helps.

I was able to reproduce the issue with room names but not device names. A fix is coming in the next build.

It's possible to rename a device tile by triggering edit mode (lock button), and device name will persist as a tile customization. Please use that as a workaround for now. I'll add a button to reset all customizations per room/section, but that will not make it to the next build.

Can you specify a little more on the disabled Geofence? Is it after updating the hub, the app, both? Any other special condition?

@gopher.ny Thanks for fixing the problem quickly. I just upgraded to the latest Hub's platform ver 2.4.1.167. The room/device naming mismatched issue on the mobile app's Devices page (Issue #1) is fixed now on both android and iphone.

Hi @moncho1138, I did more testing. I have to re-characterize the disabled Geofence problem. It actually happens after the Hub reboot itself, regardless the Hub platform upgrade. I don't have special setting/condition.

For example: This morning I upgraded my hub's platform to ver 2.4.1.167. After the hub came back up, the geofence in my Hubitat mobile app on my samsung phone was disabled by itself. I had to enable it from Hubitat's geofence settings page. After that I did a simple test. From Hubitat's settings page, I straightly rebooted the hub. When the hub came back up, the geofence on my Hubitat mobile app was also disabled by itself. So looks like the problem is after the reboot itself, regardless whether I upgraded the platforms version or not.

The problem doesn't happen on iphone, it happens only on my samsung phone.

Thanks.
