C-8 Performance monitoring

Greetings. I have one C-7, one C-7 and one C-5 in
my home. But I have been observing slow or delayed responses from C-7 recently, specifically morning time. It seems to me it is about performance issues. Is there any way to troubleshoot? Or how can I monitor performance?

For general hub troubleshooting, see:

If you can narrow it down to Z-Wave specifically, there is also a Z-Wave troubleshooting document linked to from there.

This should get you started.

Many thanks bertabcd1234. I will go through this document and update you. Thanks again

I have completed soft reset for the Hub but donโ€™t see any improvement. I have 134 devices in C-8, 76 in C-7 and 52 in C-5. The hub C-8 is placed 2feet from C-7. C-5 is in another room. Just ordered C-8 pro and planning to move all into C-8 pro. There are some hub linked devices among these three hubs. Total devices might be reduced by ~10%. Do you think, if I use C-8 pro for Z-wave devices and C8 for Zigbee devices, the overall performance will be improved? Not planning to use C-7 and C-5. Sorry for the long statement. Please advise. Thank you

While it can't hurt, I'm assuming you mentioned the soft reset as only one thing you tried and not a summary of the entire document linked to above, which has quite a few other troubleshooting steps.

That being said, a C-8 Pro has more resources than a C-8, so if that is the cause of any of your problems, that upgrade alone may help -- even if you put everything on one hub. But if you still wanted to split things up (or need to for some reason, but if you're doing it by protocol I'd assume not), either way seems good! But I'd definitely see if you can narrow down any other problems on your current hubs first unless you plan on setting everything up like new again; if you simply migrate, your old problems could very well follow you to the new hub if you don't address them first.

Many thanks for your prompt replying. I will work as per your suggestion this weekend and update you.

Based on the Z-Wave troubleshooting document, I prepared my "to do" lists and working on them. While reviewing Logs, I have captured partial Device Stats and App Stats at below. Need to learn on these data and significance of the data on Hub's performance. Could you please direct me to the documentations on these data? What to look for poor performance? Any data point indicates any issue with the hub?

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Thank you. Regards

There isn't much, and that's because there are no hard and fast rules. They are just ways you can get some insight into where to start if anything stands out (with <= 1% of time usage since your last boot, I'm not really sure anything here does -- unless maybe you just rebooted and things have been quiet since then, in which case looking again later may be more revealing).

Thanks for quick response. last question this time, I have Hub protect plan for two Hubs, can I just move single device from one to another? This way, I can locate device(s) with issues. With best regards.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean with these two things together. With or without Hub Protect, you can move a single device from one hub to another, but it's manual process (removing it from one hub, adding it to the other, and addressing any apps before and after). Hub Protect and regular hub backups come with all or nothing of each piece they restore, so you can't just pick one device, if that's what you mean.

Yes, that was my query. Got it. Thanks. I will update when I finish my "to-do" lists.
