C-8 Design completed by Q4-2022?

Would it be a fair statement to say the C-8 was a "finished product" by Q4-2022 ?

Just pondering its' maturity and the generation of the technology.

That looks like a document associated with testing done for the hub’s FCC approval process.

The hub was released in early 2023.

Can you clarify what exactly you’re asking?

Actually, I blocked you years ago. How is it I'm seeing your posts again?

:man_shrugging:

You can, of course, ignore me the old fashioned way.

But I think it’s possible I’m not the only one that doesn’t quite understand what you’re asking.

Good luck.

There have been several radio firmware and platform updates since then. So no, the C-8 wasn't a "finished product" by Q4-2022.

Neither of which would have typically triggered a new FCC filing, AFAIK.

Precisely. The hardware alone doesn't make a "finished product".

Well… semantics. With that definition, few modern electronics products are ever finished products.

Guessing at the underlying question, looks like the C8-Pro was fcc tested for BLE and the C8 was not, even though they use the same chip. To enable BLE on the C8 might require a new filing. It’s probably safe to assume the C8 lacks the necessary resources to enable it anyway.

Hardly.

Some products are. Others aren’t.

The FCC makes a distinction to avoid unnecessary filings. IIHS the same for crash testing.

I know BMW is trying to convince us that we’re driving a service

Fair enough. But you're not being charged for firmware and hardware updates that add functionality to your hub. Unlike BMW - so not an apples-to-apple comparison.
