Hi,
I'm facing strange issue lately where my main hub (I have 2 remote ones too) is facing in the past few weeks random devices drop from the Zwave network. a controlled shutdown with hard reboot after that resolve the issue and bring back all devices online.
Not sure what is happening - it is all started in the past few weeks only with this single hub and I wonder what is the best way to T-Shoot this. I even put rebooter schedule at some point - to do soft reboot every few days, which resulted with even more devices dropping from the Zwave network.
it is important to note that when devices are dropping - only shutdown with hard reboot fix this - soft reboot does not help.
Any ideas?
This can be a result of the z-wave radio getting overloaded. Shutting down power to the hub for 30 seconds or so clears the radio and allows it to run again ... for a while. It's possible you have a badly behaving device or two that ar causing the issue. What version of the hub are you running, and can you post a screen shot of your z-wave details table?
current ver. is 2.3.4.153 , thinking about it - it might be started after the upgrade I did few weeks back.
See below the z-wave table.
I tried to look at the z-wave logs but nothing unusual.
Not sure why that posted so small but sorry can't read it... but it also looks like you might have just rebooted your hub so some of the stats haven't had a chance to repopulate.
yes I see only single device is updating in the logs - which I'm aware of as it is refreshed every 10sec.
attached better view of the zwave radio.
What is the device refreshing every 10 seconds? That seems... excessive.
Interesting that the vast majority of your devices are repeating through just two repeaters... that jabsco switch and an aeotec repeater. Usually I'd expect not to see so much reliance on repeaters.
Would be interesting to see the reroutes... but it takes a while for them to populate,
Qubino 2 Relay module is the one refreshing every 10 sec. via automation rule - as it is attached to heat prob which measure the boiler water temp.
this was not an issue and works as such for months now.
Yeah I get the water temp reporting shouldn't be an issue if it's been working all this time. I know lots of people have had problems with z-wave power reporting devices reporting too frequently and causing issues, which is why my eyebrow went up when you mentioned it. Would it cause major issues if you dialed it back to once every couple of minutes just for testing? Or will that cause problems for your boiler?
I'm also thinking that because pretty much everything routes through one of those two repeaters, an issue with one of them could cause some real problems...
I am getting this problem too. Started after a hub update but rather unhelpfully I can't remember which one, as at the time I assumed it was a problem with some of my devices. But I've made no changes to the layout or type of devices since the time they were working faultlessly.
Are both of you on the latest z-wave firmware?
If you look at the top of your z-wave details page and there's an "firmware update" button then the answer is no.
I am, yes
I do have the latest - no button.
Well shoot!
I don't recall any recent platform updates making any changes to Z-Wave.
@Inge_Jones can you post a screen shot of your z-wave details page?
