Button as rule condition

I'm sure this is a really old question, but I wondered if we could have a virtual button as a triggered rule condition for testing?

I know I can simple create a test switch with auto-off, so this is purely a convenience request. E.g. I already have a test button created, and I just want to quickly test the actions of a triggered rule. Button is selectable as a trigger, but not a condition of a triggered rule.

An alternative future feature I would really like would be a "Test Actions" button in the Rule Machine settings for each Trigger, Triggered Rule and Rule. I realize this isn't a valid test for the entire rule, but often the actions cannot be executed without a rule trigger or trigger and condition, so the ability to easily just confirm that the rule actions are working would be a great help.

In button controller you can configure the button to run the actions of any rule without having to use a Virtual switch.

Sorry, that should have read "Virtual Button". I don't want to configure a physical button to trigger the rule. I've updated my post.

Aah, So If I understand, yes I would find that very handy. Two buttons on this page, one for run True actions and another for run False actions?

Yes. Good point, you want test both of course. It could also be a single button I suppose. Test True [automatic pause for x seconds], then test False.

I'm sorry, maybe I'm just not understanding your question but isn't that already there?

You're right. I had a few brain farts on RM yesterday. I was looking at thing in a triggered rule, and complaining that I could not set a button as a condition, but that makes no sense because buttons are momentary and should not be part of a condition.

Ignore me as I pretend to be invisible.

LMAO....no it's fine. I do have to say, I almost didn't post because I thought I would be the one sounding dumb. I thought, "Well, that can't be the answer. You'll sound like a moron if you point that out." Sometimes we all need some help to find the glasses that are already on our faces. Plus, showing that you're human is never a bad thing.

(or you could have just said that it was a pop-quiz for the community too. that one sometimes works.)
