[Bug report] [2.2.4.156] Creating new global variables

Hello,

When creating new global variables on 2.2.4.156 there seems to be a bug.
When you click new and set the name, type, etc, it looks fine, but then instead of creating it it tries to update the variables list but nothing gets added.
I got it working after trying to add the same new variable twice, for some reason the second time, the new variable shows up.
I checked the logs and nothing shows up when creating a new variable, so I thought there was no point in posting it.

Thanks

I remember the variables UI certainly takes some getting used to...

Yeah, but I never had this issue in past firmware versions.

You need to file a bug report by email to support@hubitat.com so that it can be entered into the system and get tracked. This is the community (user) forum, not an official channel to support.

Sure, I just posted here because my experience with emailing support has been pretty mixed, and sometimes it takes days to get a reply. On the forums, I see staff much more frequently.

I completely understand. But, unless it gets a support ticket number, it's not logged and never gets assigned to someone.

I am experiencing the same. I can click new, enter a variable name, type, and default value. But when I tab out of the default value screen I am brought back to the Global Variables list with no new variable created.

UPDATE: I just did a role back to 2.2.4.153 and I am now able to create Global Variables. That would appear to confirm this is a .156 issue.

@bobbyD tagged just in case

Again, remember to file a bug report so it gets fixed. @bravenel handles the RM stuff.

I already sent the email

This is actually wrong, and not the way to deal with app bugs. For app bugs, report them here, and tag me. Sending them to support just clogs up support, and it's going to end up in my lap anyway. This is an official support channel for apps.

Hey, it's going to me. There isn't some magic bug tracking going on for this stuff. Tag me.

What browser are you using. This sounds like a browser problem.

Chrome, both on my desktop and on mobile

That's really odd. This works very consistently for me.

In my case I have Chrome on my pc and the Duck Duck Go browser on my Android. Both show the same behavior with .156.

Global variables don't show up for me either in 156. Using chrome on my chromebook.

The picture below is immediately after making a new global variable of type boolean, initial value=true. Also tried refreshing the page a few times, no variable shows up.

As soon as I select TRUE for initial value, the screen refreshes and shows the picture below:

OK, I'm able to confirm this is broken. Will investigate.

Local variables still work, I was in wrong place.

I know what mistake caused this...

Hey @bravenel does this issue have any relevance to my issue (support ticket #19249) where I cannot access the GV system at all.

Sorry to butt in here but having received no response from support since I first reported my issue, Nov 20, I am hoping perhaps this is connected?

Thanks
Ian

Are you getting an error? What do you mean by "cannot access GV"? And, no, your problem is not related to the above issue.

Screenshots please.
