After I did the restore from my 17 month old backup it still did not see the hubs. So here are the additional steps that I just did.
Soft Reset
Reboot
Changed Hub Names and LAN Names (All different)
Rebooted
Reverted to 2.3.6.136
Rebooted
Enabled Hub Mesh
Rebooted
Checked if meshed hubs appear (No they are not)
Restored from backups for 12/2022 (No significant changes from backup until failures)
Rebooted
Checked if meshed hubs appear (No they are not)
Unplugged after shutdown Hub 1 for 10 Minutes
Booted Hub 1
Unplugged after shutdown Hub 2 for 10 Minutes
Booted Hub 2
Checked if meshed hubs appear (No they are not)
Currently allowing Hubs to sit and hopefully locate one another
18a) Will allow them to sit for a couple of hours.
After this is done I will move both of the hubs to the same network switch and within 1 foot from each other. (currently both Hubs are about 15 feet away, All switches are managed switches HP enterprise Procurves)
As I stated, I might be misremembering, but why donโt you share a device from each hub and see if the meshed hubs โlinkupโ? I will bow out now. Good luck.
I think the 1 foot thing is unnecessary, Hubmesh doesn't rely on its own network, it relies on existing ethernet or Wifi. If the hub can communicate to the router, it should be fine.
What I do think is that your network somehow is blocking something or not playing nice for some reason. I do think moving both hubs to the same switch as a test would be prudent. If you had a dumb or unmanaged switch, this would be even better.
My opinion, but unless you are an IT pro, this device is probably overkill. I would be curious to know why a home user needs something like this? I have seen a few users in the past few weeks proudly proclaim they have enterprise equipment, and I am truly baffled why that is desirable, nor necessary.
That said, maybe if you give your router brand/model, someone will know if there is a known issue with that device. I am theorizing that something is misconfigured in router settings, or some update (or fallback to default) on the router has caused a change in behavior.
As previously stated. Everything was working as it should before the power outage. All required servers are on UPS's which these servers pass all network required services. All of the servers where functioning properly and stayed running while power was out.
I know making statements that this unit may cause an issue or that LAN device may cause this. However, the only thing that has changed is that the hubs are not linked in the mesh. I am assuming that the problem is with either the configuration files on the Hubs and not with the network, as nothing has been disrupted configuration wise.
I have 3 HD Home Runs and these did not have issues connecting to their server. I know that these are two different device types however, these use config files on the device side that did not have issues.
I would like to have a Hubitat Team Member reach out so that 1) they can login to my devices and troubleshoot, or 2) Help step me though accessing the device through command line to review probable issues.
I do appreciate the help and suggestions that everyone has given, but this seems to be above everyone's pay grade and expertise.
OK, So this is extremely irritating. I updated to the most resent version of the platform, now the hub mesh is not working again. What is up with this. I've been working on it for the past hour and a half and nothing works.
Can this please be fixed. I rev-d back to 2.3.9.136 on both hubs but nothing, then restored from a backup from yesterday keeping on the rev-d version, still nothing.
Then I rev-d back to 2.3.7.145 using yesterdays backup, again nothing.
So I just completed a soft reset, with both the 2.3.7.145 platform rev. and the restore of backup 12/2024. Then the hub mesh connected. Then I updated to 2.3.9.143, then rebooted. Had to do a restore of a backup so I did yesterdays backup. Now it is all broken again. It really looks like something funky with the Platform releases.
Maybe some HE tech can take a look at why this keeps happening.
So finally, I think this issue has been resolved. I have my C5 in a location further away from my C7, so I made a change to my network ports and placed both the C5 and C7 on the same switch. This seems to have resolved the issue. My only question is why for the past year and a half did this use occur when I had no problems with any of my devices or rules? I am however now having issues with all of my basic rules that run with Waits or Modes (see my new post).
