With the help of a fellow community member, I found a solution to our powder room shelf accent lighting woes due to not having any electrical outlets in this room. I will be using flickering LED candles to give this very moody powder room a rustic dark academia vibe. Don't worry, there's actually a hard-wired wall sconce above the sink, so this won't be the only source of lighting here! My endeavors are 100% aesthetic and for fun.
In order to add smart control to the LED candles, I bought a Broadlink RM4 Mini, which works great, except it needs to be strategically mounted on our door frame with the bottom part attached to the wall for it to work consistently. My plan is to get a mini powerbank 20000mAh or more to power this thing.
Any tips on how to mount this? It looks like the bottom should hook to something but I have no idea what. I’ve been using Gorilla mounting putty for pretty much all my motion sensors, but the “hole” kind of concerns me that it doesn’t have much of a flat surface to attach to. I was thinking of Neodymium magnets maybe? Any help is appreciated!
One option could be to have someone print you a mount:
My son does this as a side business in Canada, but shipping costs to the states might be high.

I love this idea! I’m sure there’s someone on Etsy that accepts custom orders. Thank you! Going to go this route

Perfect! I just checked with my son and he could do this and ship it for $25 CAD (so around $18 USD). If you can’t get it for cheaper on Etsy and would like to go with this option, let me know and I’ll share his contact information.

I guess it's becuase of the dark color of your bathroom walls that you cannot just place it anywhere. I added one of those to our bathroom for our Washlet. I tucked the RM 4 mini behind the toilet, nested into a hollow space at the back of the ceramic. I was surprised that it still works just as well.

Seriously?! If I’m even just off by a tiny bit, it won’t hit all the candles! Let alone put it behind something lol! I didn’t realize how dark a room was affected how well it worked. That’s really interesting!
It could just be the candles. There’s a large IR receiver at the back of the Washlet and on the side. Plus I guess the bathroom mirror and the white porcelain helps too.
It should come with a mount in the box.

If yours is missing contact Broadlink for a replacement or return it to the retailer where you purchased it and exchange it for a new unopened box.
