There are a couple of different link formats for bundles (.zip files) on GitHub, which then get used in the file manifest for HPM. Maybe one of the other link formats would work better.
I PMed you with a request to help test a different format, and I'll switch to that if it works. Hard for me to say what is going wrong, because all of the link formats work for me.
Thanks for reaching out. So nothing gor installed for the Broadlink package the first time.
I did try to use the url directly and got the same result.
Error Occurred During Installation
An error occurred while installing the package: Failed to install app "https//raw.githubusercontent.com/tomwpublic/hubitat_broadlink/main/broadlinkSystemManagerApp" Please notify the package developer..
Question: I noticed in the HPM there is a setting to allow pre-relase(AKA:BETA) apps, does that switch need to on?
I should have been more clear. I did get your PM and tried the url you sent me and got the same result.
Also I have not attempted the manual process at all. Since this all new to me, another thing to note: this is pretty much a VIRGIN hub. This was one of my first priorities to get working and understand.
No worries, we'll get it figured out! Next step is probably to add some logging to HPM to try to figure out the issue. I'll get back to you via PM. Thanks for your interest in this, and welcome to the community.
Since IR, then almost certainly yes (I recommend a RM4 Mini if you don't need RF). Broadlink has numerous official templates in the app, but they also offer access to community/user-created device templates too. Even if your device can't be found in either, you can just program it yourself with the remote.
Hi @tomw ,
Thank you for this fantastic integration to Broadlink! I use it to controll an Air Heater/AC unit. After importing the stored codes from a previous app the dashboard for controlling the heater/AC unit works fine.
But I would like to use rule machine to turn the Heater/AC unit on and off att given times. I simply don't understand how to do that (I can't find the right action to use linked to the stored codes)? You mentioned an 'HVAC app' that works with your drives. Which app is that? Will I be able to use rule machine using that app?
I validated a fix for "Toggle All On/Off" in 2.3.3.128. Thanks @gopher.ny for fixing that! @hydro311, mind giving the app another try when it is convenient?
Winner winner chicken dinner! Great success - the system manager app now seems to work well for me. I only have a couple codes to save, but it's welcome peace of mind to have those saved up and easy to reload if I ever need to replace one of the RM4s. Plus, who knows what other BL stuff I may add in the future - this paves room to grow.
Thanks again for this app -- it's been working flawlessly since install
I have a problem and was browsing around but seems nobody has encountered it yet:
I have two slight different RF remotes for some windows blinds thst I am using with RM4 PRO (both in range of 433 MHz).
For one remote I was able to learn the RF codes and for the second one I have the following issue:
When I do Sweep RF it identifies the frequency sweepFreq=433910 but next when I do learn RF it gives me timeout so checking the logs I can see ERROR javax.crypto.IllegalBlockSizeException: Input length not multiple of 16 bytes on line 994 (method readbackResponse). Could it be some code restriction with the length of the code itself? What can I do to solve this?
Thanks and I hope somebody can help!
All the best to everybody and many many thanks to the developer who made this possible!
One other user reported a similar issue, but their symptom was slightly different. I can't reproduce this issue but have a theory on what may be going wrong.
Will you please enable debug logging on the virtual device page and then open a Logs window in a separate tab and run your test again?
Private message me a screenshot of the log with the content before the error you described and we can try to track down the issue.
Hi tomw and thanks for your reply. I've enabled the debug logging, did an initialize of the Broadlink and this time the javax error did not appear any more so I was able to learnRF after sweep. Not sure what could have caused the error as before I've restarted the Broadlink several times with no success. Good new is that now I don't have the error any more.
Thanks again for your time !!!
New user here, and I feel like I may be missing a step along the way. I added the app using the package manager and then added my Broadlink Universal Remote as a virtual device. With the next step being to add the IP address, I figured that would have to be done by connecting the remote to the broadlink ios app. Once I connected the remote to my ios app and got the ip address, I tried adding the ip address to the virtual device but I get a message saying "stuck in broadlink app" or something like that. I'm not sure how I would get the ip address without using the broadlink ios app. Any idea where I may be going wrong? Thanks
I couldn't find the IP address listed in the Broadlink app, but I admit I just did a quick check and didn't dig deep. That app kinda drives me nuts, so I avoid it unless really necessary.
In your router's settings, it will identify the IP your Broadlink device is using. I highly recommend "reserving" that IP for that device (or whatever comparable language your router using for that sort of thing). In fact, I recommend reserving IPs for any/all important router-connected devices -- especially for integrations like this, it helps ensure your router doesn't pull fast one and reassign the device to a new/different IP after the next reboot etc.
Can you be more clear on exactly what you're seeing here?
Is it that your activity attribute on the device page says "device is locked in Broadlink app"?
Once you add it to your wifi in the Broadlink mobile app (on your phone), you need to make sure the "Lock device" setting is disabled while you're still in the mobile app.
After that, you can try the Initialize command again on the virtual device page in Hubitat to hopefully see a better result. You shouldn't need to go back to the Broadlink mobile app for anything at that point.
Thanks so much for the replies, and please excuse the lack of clarity! Your explanation ironed out the issues I was having and now my activity is idle.
To explain my previous issue for those interested: I connected my remote to the network via the broadlink ios app and got the ip address from the router. When I entered the ip address into the hubitat app I received the "device is locked in Broadlink app" message. I had no idea why I was getting that, until tomw explained that there's a lock setting in the app which I hadn't noticed.
