Brain Fog

Have a motion detector. If it is inactive for 24 hours I presume no one is home so I want rule to activate and turn off many lights. Tried Rule Machine but can’t get it to do this.
“If detect1 is inactive and remains inactive for 24 hours then….

I'm a simple guy, lol.
I wonder if this simple automation rule would work?
1440 is a lot of minutes.

I am testing with 3 minutes but in the actual case I want to be sure everyone has packed up and left.

Please screenshot your rule as that will help diagnose.

What you describe - 'If, then' won't work as that's an action not a trigger. The rule needs to be triggered in order to test that conditional action.

Your trigger could be:

  • 'Motion inactive' 'and stays' x minutes
    Your action would be
  • turn off lights

There are also a couple of apps that will randomly turn off/on lights while you're out...
