Bond / Harbor Breeze (Home depot) wifi fan controller - Poor wifi range

Anybody using these? I've had two of them for quite awhile, and really like them. But I've always had wireless issues with one of them staying connected. When it does, it gets poor signal despite being only a few feet away from the nearest AP.

Is the antenna that hangs out of the canopy the 2.4 wifi antenna or the antenna for the remote?

These are what I'm talking about

I am familiar with the King of Fans controller. The Bond controller and remote look similar. I have experienced similar issues with the KOF controller.. Do you have any mains powered Zigbee devices in that room? Pulled my hair out trying to get these reliable when I was with ST years ago. Bought a Tuya Zigbee USB repeater on a recommendation of someone here that corrected the issue.

Not sure which antenna is for Zigbee and which is for the remote. I routed both antennas outside the canopy by cutting a notch in the canopy where it meets the ceiling. Then I used a ceiling medallion to cover the antenna wires. The medallion is two pieces and is made of sturdy foam.

I suspect the black antenna wire is for the RF remote and if that big white antenna in the pictures is on yours that is probably the Wifi antenna, otherwise it may be internal.

Reasoning is that black wire looks exactly like the RF antenna on many other devices.

This unit is actually wifi. I had a couple of those king of fans ones before but they were always an issue for me

These bond/harbor breeze ones are pretty solid, but no longer available.

I need to pull this one down and open it up.

I assumed the big white antenna is the wireless but it's outside of the canopy and practically line of sight from the AP.

Maybe there's a bad solder joint on it or something.
