Black Zwave Outlet

Does somebody know a good in wall zwave outlet - duplex (only one really needs to switch)

That comes in black?

I have two Eaton ones that 1) Don't like being on the backside of a UPS...and two are just simply flakey if the UPS gets cycled they often lose their minds - IE in a power outage...though supposedly set to restore to off.

3 years ago I did a search and only found Eaton. I've been happy with mine however. It is not on a UPS though. I wish you success. Hopefully there are some new ones out there. A few years ago people suggested painting a white one black. Didn't really like that idea.

Instead of an outlet, you could get a relay. There is the Zooz Zen 51, which works great with Hubitat. If you want it to control one side of the outlet, just snap the tab between the hot screws on the outlet, so then it's the same as if one side is on a wall switch. One screw is connected to the relay, the other to the hot wire.

This is a clever idea. If you have room in the box to stuff it in there.

Leviton ZW15R. Buy it in white, then buy the black faceplate separately.

I've never been able to find the faceplates retail, but you can buy them direct from Leviton. Decora Smart Receptacle Color Change Kit, DSRKT – Leviton

Thanks for the link!

Mine just go wonky when they lose power. Normally, that would not happen often. I'm remodeling the space they are in and it can get a little annoying.

I did this for 2 outlets myself, they work great but you will want the beta firmware for the ZW15R for stability.

Relays are a thought for sure.... I use them for my fireplace ect. This being in-wall maybe with a deep outlet box I could fit it inside the 1-gang.

I also have some of those old Aeotec(?) ones made for that. It's been years since I used them. I would not have thought a black outlet would still be such a rarity.

Great idea...thx

What firmware are your 15Rs on? There's a beta firmware (1.11) for the ZW15R that's solved the connection issue for me and other users.

I have no idea why Leviton has not released 1.11 yet -- it's been a year or two since I got it, and I know they've gotten plenty of feedback that it works well.

Or heck, maybe 1.11 is what they're currently shipping with - I'm not sure as I haven't bought one in years.

But if you're on something lower than 1.11, email their support team - that's how I got that beta firmware.
