Better controller for Chamberlain Garage Door - with opener light control

My garage door has one of these controllers.

Is anyone aware of any add-on controller that can also control the light (on the opener itself) and the auto-close enable/disable features that this controller provides? I know that there are a few MyQ add ons that will allow remote control via App. I added the LiftMaster 828LM Internet Gateway years ago that gives me remote control but no light control. Is there an option that would give me light control that I'm unaware of?

Light control is not exposed in the MyQ API.

You could always open it up and weld a cable to the connection points of the light button, and any other buttons that you want to automate, and then use a Zen16 or Zen17 at the other end to control when they get “pressed”.

I have a similar setup on my garage door, though I only use the open/close button.

I bought a second opener before doing this, in case I screwed things up and killed my opener. Luckily, both are still functional. :relaxed:

The Garadget button also has a light button too that I soldered a wire to and then have a dual zigbee relayed hooked up. I also read you can contact Garadget and they can do this for you as well:

It’s a bit tricky to automate though because it’s a single button and no distinct on and off commands. Knowing it’s state was a bit challenging and I ended up bailing on using that and automated my garage overhead lights instead.
