I just got a couple of Inovelli Red dimmer switches and have put them in Smart Bulb Mode (they keep constant power to their load). I'm wondering if someone else out there has already figured out a good way to sync the LED bar on the switch to the light(s) it's controlling.
I did this in the Room Lighting app and it seems to work for basic on/off, but not dimming level.
I think this will be annoying to change for each switch/lighting group it's controlling and it doesn't reflect dimming level. So I would love to see if others have done anything different or made something that is more easily scalable.
The best way to do this in my experience is to bind the switch to the bulb. That has the added benefit that the switch will control basic functionality (on/off + dim) of the bulb directly, and hence faster, even in the hub goes down.
It does require both the bulb and switch to be on the same Z* network and of the same type (Z-Wave vs Zigbee).
I don't have any Z-wave bulbs currently and would like to get a bunch of Hue bulbs. I've read that it's best to keep Hue bulbs working through the Hue hub. Plus I have a few WiFi lights, so I don't want to rely on Z-wave associations or Zigbee bindings.
