In the Hubitat Safety Monitor (HSM) configuration, it says " Hubitat Safety Monitor also supports Security Keypads. Hubitat Safety Monitor also supports arming and disarming with button devices"
I was wondering what people recommend as the best, most reliable yet still inexpensive physical button, switch or keypad for easily arming / disarming HSM. Posts I've seen often refer to hardware that doesn't seem to be sold any more (Iris). I'm fine with a simple toggle switch or button to arm/disarm or a keypad as well, but I don't really want to use a tablet for it. Ideally, it would cost less than $50 because if it gets over that, then it is probably cheaper to use an amazon tablet.
When asking for device recommendations it's always important to include what region of the world you are located in. Device choice varies greatly by region. You used $ so should we assume you're in the US?
I have an Iris v2 and Iris v3 and both work relatively well. There is also the XHK1-UE Xfinity keypad which other like. Unfortunately, the only place you're going to find them most likely is on eBay. They have been discontinued with the shutdown of Iris. But they are relatively cheap and function well.
Thank you for the quick reply! I'll check those devices out. I would prefer to have a currently supported one, though.
Has anyone done HSM arm/disarm with an Aeotec Nanomote or a Sylvania Smart Home 74099? Both are just multi-buttons. I haven't seen anything in Hubitat documentation that tells me what is required for button use with HSM (maybe I missed it), so I'm not sure if these would work. I wish Hubitat had a button like the "Smartthings Button" which is only $15 USD. The Nanomote looks pretty nice, but it is almost the same cost as an Amazon Fire Tablet 7. I was momentarily excited by the Lutron Pico remotes because they had multiple buttons and were a good price, but I think they require a Lutron hub and I'm not sure if you can use them with HSM anyway.
If no one has any button recommendations, then I'll go hunting for an Iris device. Maybe this is only me wanting this, but it does seem like a gap Hubitat has - the ability to use it for a security system (I'm using it with Konnected) but no standard/good arming device (not counting a tablet)
I use 2 V2 iris keypads and also I have a Remotec ZRC-90US scene controller it has 8 buttons on my bedroom nightstand. I also have a smartthings button in the master bath that I use to turn HSM off for the times that my kids come home after it has armed the smartthings button works well but I prefer the ZRC-90.
Are you able to use all three functions? I can't seem how to do it in HSM. I'd like to use a double press to disarm and long press to arm. Is that possible? I don't see an option to select it like in the rest of the Hubitat options.
HSM only gives the option to arm and disarm with pushed, so if you want to use the multiple functions of the button, you'll need to use Rule Machine.Using your example, you could set it up like this
