I was able to connect to my Wemo device locally using Homebridge. The plugin uses IP scanning to find and attach to a Wemo device. I was then able to connect it to Apple HomeKit and successfully control the outlet. Hubitat then somehow found my Homebridge server and offered to integrate Wemo with it.
I just installed homebridge-wemo on a a raspberry. How do you integrate it into hubitat? I searched it up but still unsure what to do. Thanks in advance!
The Homebridge-Wemo should have autodiscovered your Wemo devices, assuming that they're on the same VLAN. Afterwards, install the Hubitat Homebridge user app. Then, connect the Homebridge instance to the app in Hubitat. I can't remember exactly how I did that, but I know it wasn't difficult. You just follow the prompts.
I added the WEMO to homebridge. I installed Homebridge V2 on hubitat and was able to connect to homebridge. I see that I can pass hubitat devices to homebridge, but how do I pass the homebridge accessories to hubitat? Sorry for being dense but I looked at it for a long time and couldn't figure it out....
Ok, after a long hard look it seems I need the "HomeKit controller Integration" to be able to control HomeKit accessories? Unfortunately it doesn't run on my older hubitat
Do you have Home Assistant running anywhere? You can use it as a Homekit controller, and then export Wemo devices to Hubitat using Home Assistant Device Bridge.
Thanks. I tried HA years ago but found it difficult to master even tho it's very powerful.
For now, I am passing virtual devices from Hubitat to HomeKit and using HomeKit automation to bridge them to the WEMO devices on homebridge. I hope this'll work.
