Can somebody tell me what the battery life of the iris v2 motion sensors are? I know what the manual says, but real world battery life is what Iām looking for.
I have several (low traffic) ones that are reporting 75% after two years and some (high traffic) that are showing 87% after a year and a half. I've stockpiled a bunch of those sensors, hoping I'll never have to use another brand.
That's not terrible....
I know the z-wave ecolink sensors get a battery life of 6 years. Yes they are slow, but depending on the application you use them with, they could work great.
I have around 14-15 of these iris motion sensors, plus spares. However, I'm dealing with these devices dropping off the hub. I do have to say, I have no repeaters in the house. I just purchased the ikea zigbee plugs because I've been told they work great as repeaters.
I'm hoping this will fix my current issues. If it doesn't, I am going to sell my pile of sensors and go with ecolink motion sensors. Yes bigger, uglier. But all my z-wave stuff so far to date, is rock solid and never drop off. Plus as I said, they get 6 years of battery life.
I've had 1 for over 3 years and finally had to replace the battery, the others I got about 6 months ago are still over 87%
The only time I had issues with these was when I had repeating smart bulbs in the mix. Since then, I've removed the bulbs from the mesh, added six of the Ikea outlets and two XBees. I have a very repeater-rich mesh.
