Batch OTA Feature Request

It would be nice to have a way to queue up a batch of same device types for an OTA run. For me sitting at the terminal waiting for one to finish so I can queue up the next one is mind numbing.

I don't care how long the OTAs take, I would like to just commit the devices and then walk away. If it takes 3-5 hours for 17 device so be it. I just don't want to sit at the terminal for that long.....

I am on ZEN77 number three as I write this, 14 more to go........

My way is easier, I just never update Firmware. As a rule, I don't mess with working devices. I would only update firmware if it was needed to fix a known problem, or if it gives a new feature that I want to use.

That's me almost exactly. But you're missing the third (and possibly most important reason) to do a firmware update:

  • It's the weekend, the wife and/or kids are away, and I've done all my real chores.

Sitting here updating 19 ZEN77s at a residence. Will take several hours due to slow file transfer rate.

Second Request: Add a batch mode to Device Firmware Updater Tool. Just queue up all the like devices and let it run sequentially overnight. No need to set them up one by one....

p.s. Is there a way I could write a rule to manipulate the app to batch run the updates?

p.p.s. If batch mode too difficult can the app run multiple instances such that you can launch a few parallel firmware runs?

Z-radios are serial devices that are limited in their bandwidth. I think Z-Wave plus devices are still limited to just 100 kbps.

Yes I guess that would be a rate limiting factor.

I think there may be a bug or memory leak in the firmware updater app.

As I started my 8th and 9th device for upgrade the firmware upload speed went to a crawl, 30+ minutes.

I rebooted Hubitat and my 10th device was only 2-3 minutes…

So something amiss with how the app works..
