“Back button” doesn’t work properly for classic dashboards anymore

The more I’m going between the classic dashboard and the Easy Dashboards the more I’m being drawn back to the classic dashboard. The biggest reasons for this is that I like the size of the buttons in the classic better, plus, for dimmers I have the slider right on the face of the button. I tried making the button taller for an Easy dashboard, hoping that would then show the slider, but that didn’t work. I find that it is often difficult to touch the 3 dots on an Easy button to go into the dimmer slider as they are so tiny, even on my iPad.

One other thing I love about the classic dashboards is the ability to nest other dashboards. I had a “main” dashboard for my iPhone with custom layouts for various rooms inside it, and another “main” dashboard for my iPad or a browser.

All of which brings me to my problem. In the classic dashboard if I touched the icon in the upper left that also had the dashboard name with it, it took me back to the last dashboard, i.e. back to my “main” dashboard. I don’t know when they changed/removed that but I would really, really want that to be reinstated. What is happening now is that it is taking me back to the main dashboard page which defeats the entire purpose of having nested dashboards.

I thought one of the main things Hubitat said when they rolled out the Easy Dashboards is that we could keep the classic ones with all their functionality. I’m guessing/hoping this was just an over-site and made the classic back button like the new home button instead of the last used arrow in the Easy Dashboards (which I find doesn’t work to go back to another dashboard BTW. So maybe it is a bug they are still working on for both). In any event, please have the Hubitat icon-dashboard button on a classic dashboard go back to the last dashboard and not go back to the all dashboards page.

I seem to recall that there use to be an option to enable or disable this, but it is no longer there. I just tried one of my dashboards and clicking on that Hubitat logo with the dashboard name did bring me back to the main menue.

Since the option to disable / enable this feature is no longer visible, I wonder if it might have been changed to disable on that dashboard when the option was available?

You can make a tile using the link template and use the following code as the URL
javascript::history.go(-1)

It will bring you back one "page"

I tried that, but when I click the button I created to go back 1 "page" nothing happens.

Here is the Dining Room dashboard inside my "Main" dashboard:

When I click/touch it, it does go into the Dinning room

Here is the "Last" tile and how I set it up using the Link template and pasting in the code you posted as the URL.:

But when I touch/click the "Last" button nothing happens. What did I do wrong or doesn't that work as you thought it would?

BTW, even if we get this working, it is a real kludge as I would have to create such a button for every dashboard. I don't know why Hubitat can't just reinstate that clicking the Hubitat Icon/Dashboard Name in the upper left for a classic dashboard takes us back 1 "page". Also, BTW, I don't know why Hubitat still just has "Dashboard" at the top of the Easy Dashboards instead of the dashboard's name, like Dinning Room, etc., in the classic app.

Can you screenshot what you are talking about here?

If this button is what you are talking about, mine goes back to the main dashboard menu when clicked. Yours does not?

Not sure if this would work for you but I have one main home page which has all my rooms etc.

Then I have a home button on these dashboards which takes me back.
Might work for you.

Yes. That is exactly what I’m talking about. Here is where I get to when I click the Easy Dashboard from the Apps page:

Here is my "Main" menu:

When I click the Dinning Room tile:

I go here, into my classic Dinning Room dashboard:

When I click the Hubitat icon:

It doesn't take me back to the Main dashboard, like it always used to do. Instead it takes me back to the "home" dashboard page (the first screen shot in this post).

I also found something interesting that I can only get to my classic dashboards going through the Easy Dashboard "home" page. If I use the Easy Dashboard dropdown my classic dashboards aren't there:

And if I try to use the classic dashboard app I can't get into them, only edit it them (which is how it always used to be). But unlike in the past if I clicked on Dashboards in the side menu:

I get to the Easy Dashboard "edit: page:

Or by clicking on the "Open dashboard menu page instead"

It takes me to the Easy Dashboard home page. (First screenshot in this thread).

I can't find anyway to just get to my classic dashboards without going through the Easy Dashboards.

Besides not being able to just get to my classic dashboards, I can't get to just an Easy dashboard page without my classic dashboards showing up. I tried to use the filter, and put in "EZ", and that showed just my Easy dashboards, as I put "EZ" at the end of each one, but as soon as I go into one and then come out of it the filter is gone, so that is another issue.

So, that bottom line is that if I go into my "Main" dashboard, and then go into any of the nested classic dashboards, clicking the Hubitat icon doesn't take me back to the last page, which in this case would have been into my Main menu, and the link tile I added per the instructions in this thread (the one that says "Last" in the Dinning Room screenshot) does nothing either. As I posted earlier, this is what is inside the "Last" tile:

So why doesn't that work as suggested above? Did I do something wrong making that tile, or does that suggestion just not work?

What is inside your Home Hub 1 tile?

Even if that works, it is certainly not an "elegant" solution, i.e. having to put such a button into every one of my dashboards, just to recreate something that used to just work by clicking the Hubitat icon in the top left.

My guess is that currently clicking the Hubitat icon in a classic icon doesn't work because clicking the back arrow "<-" in and Easy dashboard doesn't work either. Hopefully, they will fix both at the same time. BTW, I'm running 2.3.9.158 on a C8, so I'm totally up to date.

Select dashboard link then the dashboard you want to go to.

I made a Dashboard link in all my individual classic dashboards (rooms) to go back to the "Main" dashboard, but I saw I couldn't add a link to an Easy dashboard. While this certainly is a good temp solution, I certainly hope Hubitat fixes the Home Icon in a classic dashboard to take us back to the last dashboard as it had done for all this time.

Likewise, when I was in an Easy dashboard I couldn't add a navigation tile to a classic dashboard:

It was a bit if a pain to have to add all of the Easy dashboards to all the other Easy dashboards, but what makes this unworkable, at least on my iPhone, is that the rooms don't scroll, so I can only see the first couple of them.

If we had a Link tile for the Easy Dashboards, like we do have for the classic dashboards, then I wouldn't necessarily need to add all the other ones to each one, as I could nest them into one centralized hub dashboard just like I did with my Main dashboard.
