Available Ceiling Fan Canopy Controllers

Home Depot has discontinued the Hampton Bay Controller and no longer offer fans with a ZigBee controller. Is King of Fans still an option? I tried their website and was hit with warnings about an Adobe Flash required. I don't think I have a browser that offers Flash support. Are there any other options out there?

Watching. Replacing ceiling fans is on my to-do list for later in the spring.

This is pretty much the Home Depot replacement device for the HBFC. It is not Zigbee, though. It is WiFi and basically has a Bond bridge built into it (I.e. Smart by Bond branding.) I believe there have been some community members who have been successful using it.

Not helpful right now, but hopefully Inovelli will be able to restock their LZW36 (Z-Wave fan/light controller) some day. No estimate right now. Or, maybe they'll work on a Zigbee equivalent. I know that's a wish for them, but they aren't sure if they'll be able to (likely other projects being prioritized now). A while back, I looked for fans with built-in Zigbee since I recall Home Depot had a couple, but none I can find now are in stock. Not sure if anyone else ever did this.

If you're able to, it might take less time to just have an electrician re-write the fan to control fan and light separately from the wall, then just use whatever dimmer and fan controller you want there instead. But I know, I know, that's usually the appeal of these modules...

I'm trying to avoid Bond since there is no native integration, but at least there is a community option and it's not cloud-dependent.

I think I read somewhere the Bond integration is only one-way also, you can send commands over it but it cannot poll the fan to check what state it is in, which makes sense since it is RF controlled if you use their hub. I wonder if that Wifi one up above can be polled though, maybe over Wifi?

I have an old fan which I think was wired up with two switches originally so it should have a 3-wire run to it, but has since been converted to canopy module with a remote. There is an old rotary fan dial which is dead and does nothing. I don't want to invest in a bond hub for one-way control.

Since we are talking fans, If I removed the canopy module are there recommended zwave or zigbee fan speed capable, in wall switches? I would really love one that looks like the inovelli with light and fan on the same switch, but I could do two separate switches in this room. Who needs a remote when I have my phone on the nightstand and Alexa on the dresser.

I'll keep an eye on inovelli. I'll take z-wave over wi-fi any day. Thanks.

You can call the 1-877-527-0313 Home Depot number. Tell them you have fan Gardinier 52” LED Brushed Nickel Ceiling Fan, model #43260 and need a replacement Part J (zigbee Reciever). It's about 35 bux. I ordered one about 3 weeks ago... Just tell them you don't have your receipt and you'll pay for it. You can retrofit ANY fan with it.

What about this one

I saw this one to there.

That one appears to be WiFi and only controllable via Amazon Alexa or Google Home. It might be possible to integrate it via Alexa Routines (or similar) but would be 100% cloud dependent for Hubitat integration.

The one I posted earlier can do all that, as well as contains a Smart by Bond controller. The Bond integration has been reported to work locally via Hubitat direct to the fan controller, without any need for cloud connectivity.

Sonoff iFan04-L is an option, but you don’t get dimmer for lights just on/off

So bond integration is not cloud dependent?

It sucks the Inovellie red fan/light controller isn't avaliable. I have one of those and it works well i also have the old KOF zigbee fan controller and it works ok once i got a repeater in a good place.

My understanding is that is is local on Hubitat, but I am not 100% certain. I know someone who is using the Smart by Bond fan controller on Home Assistant and he has confirmed it is 100% local on that platform.

I have a Zigbee Hampton Bay Fan Controller, along with the requisite repeater, which I use for one fan in my house. The other 3 fans all use a Caseta fan controller. I do have a new-in-box Smart by Bond fan controller sitting on the shelf, waiting for my HBFC to fail. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I have a new fan coming in now from Home Depot. Maybe I will just order it and put them in together.

I just ordered another zigbee fan module from HD this morning. (It's actually coming from King Of Fans) With shipping it was 41.00 We decided to go with two ceiling fans on the the front porch instead of one and so I ordered another controller. Like I said, these can be integrated into any fan (cap blue wire if you don't have lights)

I'm using the Bond Pro hub. It is 100% local.

Well I put the order with Homdepot for the Universal 4 speed fan controller based on Bond. Well though I was able to do it, they called me a few hours later and said they didn't have it. It may be vapor wear.

The KOF fan isn't exactly a bad option when they work, but can be flakey. I have one and i have to have a repeater in a certain spot. If i don't it fails fairly quickly. Even with that it has failed to work on occasion.

I have cut out the pull chain and wired in a Zooz ZWAVE Double relay. On my 4 speed(+off) fan I got two speeds with one. Adding another would give me 5 possible speeds (+off) Zooz 5 button scene controller makes a nice wall companion. Set it up how you like.
