Automations during Key by Amazon deliveries

Amazon has extended its Amazon Key delivery option to more areas, and is offering $30 incentive to try it. So I'm certainly giving the garage option a try, at least for two deliveries needed to get the bonus. My garage door opener is MyQ compatible.

So I immediately start thinking about what automations might be useful in conjunction with it, and how to accomplish. I doubt that there is an available API to get notifications of an imminent delivery. But you do get an "Arriving now" text, as well as notifications via MyQ and Key by Amazon mobile apps. There is an Alexa skill which I thought might could be useful for having a routine flip a virtual switch during delivery, but delivery related functionality isn't part of the skill, only door lock.

Amazon says you can automatically arm a camera during the delivery, but their own Blink cameras aren't supported (only Ring). For now, I'm arming my garage cam upon garage door open and will probably limit that by mode.

I also thought I read that you can automatically lock the door between the garage and house during a delivery if you have a smart lock. I do, but found no setup for that in the Key app.

Does anyone have any ideas to share on triggering on Amazon Key deliveries (how to differentiate open or motion in garage because of delivery vs. our own coming and going)? Or automation ideas?

This could probably be accomplished with Tasker app on Android phone. If that's an option for you, let me know and I can give details. It would work whether you get text message or push notification.

Thanks for the idea. At this time, I'm an iPhone guy.

I'm sorry :stuck_out_tongue:
