I want to strengthen my Zigbee mesh as I have only Zigbee bulbs and buttons that aren’t repeaters. A smart thermostat is on my list and the position of the current one would be ideal to kill 2 birds with one stone. Was looking at something simple like the Stelpro STZB402+ and couldn’t find any confirmation that it, or Zigbee thermostats in general, are or aren’t repeaters.
Likely would be a repeater if it was C-wire powered. If it is battery only, it wouldn't.
Your best bet would be to email the thermostat company to confirm with them if their model does or not. Most do not say, as you have found out.
My Centralite Pearl is a repeater.

I emailed Stelpro asking if it was a repeater, to which they responded “Why do you need a repeater?” and asked for more information. I explained and replied and after a few days of no response, I emailed them again with “So I guess it’s not?”and still haven’t heard back. I suppose I’ll keep looking....
