Are Matter Lamps A Bad Choice?

I had that Matter timeout error. I ended up taking my Amazon Echo with the thread border router a few feet away from the Matter device that I was pairing and they paired up.

My bet is he left DHCP and NAT turned on and connected to the WAN port such that second router was a new subnet.....

A misstep I've seen a few times w/friends and family who got a new router and decided they would keep using the old one as well.

Hence my targeted questions, everything else is just speculation. May not be 100% reliable, both segments could even have the same subnet I think, would probably make the AP router very confused though.

Well, the user has been around reading. Perhaps they have solved their issues.

There can be good reasons for reducing frequency of time here and other sites, particularly at this time of year.....

Yet they are visiting, just not responding to their thread.

I'll admit it is not common or ideal... but am willing to wait a little longer.. for now... Without criticising the OP...

I'm trying to figure out who the fisherman is?

Others are willing to question the length of me the OP has taken to respond to the questions posed here, I am willing to give them a little longer.

We get it.

They also lose credits the longer they wait to respond. This is typical with forums.

@oakende I thought perhaps you lost your thread. We're you able to solve your issues?

Ok, sorry, for the delay guys. I had to work Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Then Sunday were were getting things ready for the big freeze. Then Monday night we had a line freeze and burst at one of our rental properties and I had to run out and fix that..

I really didn't mean to leave y'all in the lurch.

So I think it was Thursday night, the night after I made this original post, most of the lamps (bulbs) magically came back online. I came home Thursday night (I believe) and most of them were working. The Minoston remotes had to be re-programmed and the lamps that weren't working had to be refreshed in the Hubitat App. I didn't have to drag the ladder out and repair any of them. I think that is just bizarre. So that problem fixed itself with a few days time and no action on my part, except for the two lamps I have to refresh to get them to work with the app. I don;t know why they lost their connection to the remotes. I deleted the rules I had created for those lights on each button and rewrote them. They all are working fine now.

I also noticed that my landscape lights are not cycling off in the morning like I have them set to do. I cannot control the plug-in dimmer from the app, however I think that is because I removed a couple of other devices that were acting as repeaters and that plug in dimmer is probably too far away from the HE hub. I'm not working for the rest of the week so I'll get to figuring that one out today or tomorrow.

I do appreciate all of the help and comments, I'm trying to do this on my own without asking for a bunch of help. I don;t always have the time to reply to those who have given support in a timely manner but I do try to circle back within a few days and say a few words.

Again, thanks for all of the help and support, I really do appreciate the input.

Just not good enough....

Of course not.... it's fine... take your time and don't feel tied to any timelines here.... Some may feel re-assured if you set the expectations up-front, but otherwise, chill, we can wait...

As a person that runs forums I'm going to disagree. It's important to be timely when you summon help from a community. If you don't think you will have time to be active you can just wait to post. In this case the member had been active on the forum, but not responding to this thread. Even a simple update that you are thankful for responses, but have other pressing priorities is enough. Posting and not sticking around is like inviting people to lunch and then not showing up to join.

Fair point, and likely something that belongs in another topic.... but I can understand responding in a timely manner.... But, personally I can also appreciate other "stuff" getting in the way... I know my involvement recently has been impaired due to largely "outside" influences.... Yes, it might be nice to get a heads up on this being the case... but that is not always a possibility...

This all depends on this being the case.... There could just as likely be other factors at play... Let me adjust myself to make my seated position more comfortable on this fence...

Don't worry. If you fall one way of the other I'll prop you up.
